Damn man!

This dude was one bizarre genius. There's few things more awesome than smoking some good and listening to David Bowie.

Be Easy, Ziggy. Everybody thinks their favorite artist one of a kind, David Bowie was the definition of one of a kind

You will be missed brotha, Starman returns to the Star Dust.

Truly unique musician. Space Oditty is astounding.

He was kind of a f*ggot. Not sure why people like him. Makes me realize that I'm on a higher mental plane than most people.
sounds like you're on the lower plane on this one. bowie was a brilliantly inventive singer / song-writer / performer... not to mention a very good actor and all-around artist.

and yes, he also publicly declared himself a f-ggot and dressed to impress that way. it was a huge success for his ziggy stardust album and tour.

his influence was huge. probably a lot of the performers you like today have benefited directly or indirectly from bowie.

Damn.. damn... damn.

It all makes sense why Dexter performed on Colbert's show a few nights ago.

Usually when an artists dies people mourn them and go back to replay their music. But unlike most of those of those cases, I ALWAYS continued to play his music. At least once a week I listen to a few Bowie songs.

I was just looking forward to his new album since I saw the FLAC version available, now I feel guilty.

DAmn damn damn.. RIP

One of the greatest songwriters of all time, a true songwriter. The dude's music was ageless, his style was hard to pinpoint as he blended in greatly regardless of genre or style. CAn't think of any artist that was able to do what he did as well as he did.

Damn... damn... damn....

I'm of an age where I was at an impressionable stage when Bowie and Mick Jagger did Dancing In The Streets, and because of that it took most of my adult life to come to terms with Bowie. His weirdness is every bit as extreme and pronounced as his genius. But thank god I did, because Bowie's eventually became among my favorite catalogues of all time.

heroes is one of my favorite songs to sing. the way he goes from almost whispering in to the mic at the beginning to screaming at it from across the room is oddly satisfying.

TVC 15 is also a lot of fun, and the back story is pretty great:

Never been a big fan, but he was a great songwriter. RIP.

I was actually a late fan.

I used to like some of his songs (the radio hits), but it wasn't until VH1 used to have this panel of artists (forgot the show's name) and they ranked shit. They ranked best rapper, best songwriters etc.etc. they had different artists from different genres all the time.

Bowie's name was always brought up and I began to get curious as to why these artists admired and respected him so much. So my search began and I understood why.

I'm gutted.

The word "music icon" gets thrown around too much, but for David Bowie, it's an understatement.

There are three, maybe four artists in the rock era that were as influential.

One of the most creative talents to ever walk the Earth.

I listened to the final song on his final album earlier and it was evocative af- human and complicit. The end of it has a unique sound effect that oddly sounds like an astral body leaving to explore the depths of the universe and beyond. It was an appropriate way for a dude with his persona to leave music and the Earth

Shit's hitting me harder than I expected. I'm not depressed or anything but can't really listen to anything but Bowie the last few days. Hours on youtube and run throughs of like 5 albums (multiple times in the case of Station to Station, Hunky Dory and Ziggy).

It's strange because in some ways I'm a bigger Lou Reed fan yet his death didn't affect me as much as Bowie's. Maybe it's the shock factor. Maybe cuz I was busier in my life at that time.

Bowie was one of the biggest and brightest stars in the rock n roll constellation, that's probably why it affects you more.

Its like when Michael Jackson died. I was never a huge fan, but his death had such a huge end-of-an-era feel to it, I couldn't help but be affected.

I hadn't listened to Bowie in a while, but I've been on a huge binge these last few days. His post Let's Dance stuff is actually pretty amazing, I'm surprised it wasn't more critically acclaimed at the time. Dude was a huge musician.

i can't stop playing this bandcamp mini-album just released. it's six of bowie's songs given the dub / reggae treatment. i've listened to this artist's other stuff, but none of it is nearly this good IMO.

2. Suffragette City 03:33
3. Lady Stardust 03:27
4. Starman 04:07
5. Across The Universe 05:08
6. Life On Mars 04:00

it streams in browser:

note: that's probably the best cover i've ever heard of across the universe.
