depends on your criteria of " best player"

I could make a case as Dominique Wilkins having a better run then Bron.

Sure...

Dominique during a similar stretch was ( along with MJ) the most dominant Offensive player in the NBA...the Hawks also had 4 -5 50 win seasons

Dominique also averaged around 7 rebounds ( similar to Lebron) all while playing in a much tougher conference.

we are talking about a 28 - 30ppg 7 reb 3 ast player during the NBA Golden years....

MJ was a slightly better offensive player.....a better defender...and won more.
seems like OP excluded all those categories also....

also Dominique never left his 50 - 60 win team to go join the Celtics after losing in the ECFinals.....He could have....and the C's prolly would have won at least 3 titles...meaningless titles if you will

that means a whole lot.

I would say Kareem has. Per my thread, the longest runs of best players have been

Kareem 10 years (1971-1980)
LeBron 7 years (2009-2015)
Jordan 6 years (1988-1993)
Russell 6 years (1958-1963)
Mikan 5 years (1950-1954)

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102569

Worth mentioning thread hasn't been updated for 2016 and Jordan most likely would have had the longest run if he never retired (He was best player from 96-98 as well).

lebrons run is 2011-2014 ( notice i put him as the best even though hes not mvp and he choked the finals away )

2015-present day is steph curry

lebrons run was 4 years. 5 if we count 2010.. about what kobe had including the tie in 2010.. which is good. considering duncans was 4 years. shaqs was only 2 years. and malones was only 1 year.

Bias aside, he's been either the consensus best player or had a very good argument for best player every year since 2007-2008. That's coming up on 8 years.

I never meant to say only 1 year.....I was trying to show Nique Dominated and was " in the consensus" for many years....starting in the mid 80's.

MJ was hurt in 86'...( even so he was still IMO the best player on a basketball court)....even though the "consensus" wouldn't agree....or at least many player/fans still believed MJ's style couldn't win.

they are very comparable....except Nique never left to join Boston in his prime.
