goddamn it Iran:facepalm
Edit: Seems like a misunderstanding. Let's hope!
Earnest said there remained no exact time frame for when the sailors would be let go, but didn't expect a long delay.
Following reports of the incident, Secretary of State John Kerry spoke with Iranian officials in Tehran by phone, attempting to secure the sailors' release.
One senior official told NBC News the Iranians understand it was a mistake and have agreed to release the Americans in international waters within hours.
Seems like all is well

I guess it's a non-issue.

An Iranian news source is saying the ships were having technical difficulties and the sailors were rescued.
Need more time to sort everything out.
Nice attempt at bait though. :applause:

Iran knows better now. They learned their lesson. They are days away from the Nuclear deal kicking in and some sanctions being lifted.
They wouldn't do anything stupid like that and risk their new status. I'm sure there are radicals within the country who would love nothing more than to torture U.S. military personnel. But they know better.

Rescued? Nope. The Iranian News Service has confirmed that they are under arrest.
Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions. It's not like Iran has a long-established habit of holding people like this for a long time and accusing them of spying or anything, right?

Iran is probably just trying to flex a bit and humiliate president Obama right before his State of the Union address. I doubt it will be another Argo.

Iran is due to get an infusion of about $100 billion dollars from sanctions being lifted and their international banking/financial assets being unfrozen. They've already de-commissioned one of their nuclear facilities as per the deal. But just a few days before their windfall is due to come in, they're going to risk that over 10 sailors who probably make a combined $300K a year? :wtf:
If they did, then they are the absolute dumbest f*cks who ever controlled a country.

Obama is such a coward and the whole world knows it. We should be giving Israel the nod to castrate these pieces of shit, not lifting sanctions placed on them.

Iran is trying to turn the corner breh.
They're fighting ISIS and they are cutting down their nuclear program.
They don't want war with USA and are doing what they can to avoid it.
Their only weakness these days is they aren't letting the Kurds create an official Kurdish state.

Iran released U.S. sailors in international waters
Iran released ten U.S. sailors on Wednesday after holding them overnight, bringing a swift end to an incident that had rattled nerves days ahead of the expected implementation of a landmark nuclear accord between Tehran and world powers.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said it had freed the sailors after determining they had entered Iranian territorial waters by mistake. The sailors had been detained aboard two U.S. Navy patrol boats in the Gulf on Tuesday.

Just released footage shows US sailors taken into custody at gunpoint and made to get on their knees with their hands on their head. Worst part is that John Kerry thanked the Iranians for this. Weakest, most wussified administration.....eva.

Kerry and Obama refer to the Ayatollah as the "Supreme Leader". They are weak betas, the nuclear deal being the culmination of weak beta diplomacy. There are still 4 Americans being held in Iranian prisons. Their release, at minimum, should have been a non-negotiable term of the deal. Instead Obama and Kerry simply bow to the supreme leader. :facepalm

I'm sure that's just common sense, military protocol. A random unknown ship armed with machine guns floats into your waters unnanounced, you're going to take every precaution. You're not going to just give everyone on board a hug. By all accounts the sailors were treated well and sent on their way home unharmed.
Unless of course you still think these sailors were 'held hostage' for only a few hours.

14 months of intense negotiations...
U.S. confirms 4 U.S. prisoners freed, including journalist, ex-Marine, pastor
(CNN)Iran freed four U.S. prisoners on Friday, including Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian, senior U.S. administration officials said, confirming reports first published in Iranian media.
The release was arranged as part of a prisoner swap involving seven Iranians held by the United States on sanctions charges, the officials confirmed. The deal comes after more than a year of secret negotiations, the officials said.
The announcement comes on a day when the United Nations' nuclear watchdog is expected to announce whether Iran is in compliance with a July deal to restrict its nuclear program.
If the International Atomic Energy Agency certifies that Iran is in compliance, some international economic sanctions against Iran are expected to be lifted.
The U.S. officials said Iran freed Rezaian, Marine veteran Amir Hekmati and Christian pastor Saeed Abedini, who had been held on various charges. The fourth prisoner was identified by U.S. officials and Iranian media as Nosratollah Khosrawi. Details of Khosrawi's case were not immediately known.
"Based on an approval of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and the general interests of the Islamic Republic, four Iranian prisoners with dual nationality were freed today within the framework of a prisoner swap deal," the semi-official Iranian FARS news agency quoted the office of the Tehran prosecutor as saying.
The Americans had not yet left Iran as of 11:15 a.m. ET, the officials said.

lol, no it's not. What the Iranians did was at odds with the Geneva Convention. Something is not right about the 'official' story, though we'll probably never find out what actually happened, nor why the captured soldiers didn't follow their own protocols, instead offering a rather embarrassing apology, and being paraded around on Iranian tv.
Did they get the "do whatever they say, we don't wanna **** this deal up" signal or something?

When you want to detain armed personnel, you disarm and secure them first before anything, it's Iranian armed forces detaining American soldiers, that's how you do it. It would play the same way if an Iranian boat entered US waters, or you want to tell me you served in the army too?
