When I see each guys build I see:
KAT- Tim Duncan mentality. He's going to anchor the defense. score in the post. Block shots and truly take his man one on one in the post. KAT reminds me of Tim Duncan in ways. I don't believe he will be as good but even being a poor mans Tim Duncan will make you a top 10 player.
Davis- I See KG. Not as crazy as KG, but his skills in ball handling and defending on the perimeter are very KG like. Davis is going to be a scoring machine though who will average 25+ PPG at the PF position.
My fear with these guys is they fall in love with the 3 point shot too much. Both guys have ability to dominate a game. I liken KAT more as an anchor while Davis can cover the perimeter and play decent post defense.

Agreed.
But what separates KAT from Duncan is that he has range from deep, something Duncan never had. But yeah, even being a poor man's Duncan would mean he would be amazing.

Duncan had range when it mattered.

From a center stand point, KAT is a better fit. I love how he plays within himself and a couple of times, you see him really direct traffic in the lane.
Davis needs a coach right now and a PG that can lead that team. People forget dirk was not a leader when he was scoring like crazy on the Dallas teams. Nash and Michael Finley were the guys getting in peoples faces. Davis needs someone in his ear so he can be accountable.

Wow, didn't know that KAT has a better rookie year so far. I love both guys as prospects. KAT is built and will be built like a true center with very good athletic ability.
Davis is built like a PF.

Yeah, KAT is a bit taller and plays a more traditional center game. The guy has very good touch, pretty light feet and is mobile and athletic enough. He isn't Davis athletic but athletic enough to impact the game. But his post game already looks pretty good and he seems to possess good bball iq.

KG was a child though.
KG was a child though.
He was 19. Towns just turned 20 on Nov. 15. AD was 19 for the majority of his rookie year.

I swear... KAT may be the most overrated player of the decade. Yes, he's good, but I just don't see what all the hype is about. The 3 times I've seen him play this season he looked really mediocre and definitely didn't look like a future superstar in the making. In the one game, Okafor destroyed him and made him look like a total scrub...I think he finished with 7 points and 5 rebs or something. I think too many of you are just looking at his PER and think WOW...he must be really great because the PER says so!
That said, the answer is obviously Anthony Davis.

I really don't know. I guess nobody does, which is why anything said in this thread will be opinion.
That being said, I got AD. He's still a baby. Yes was hyped too soon after last year, but I have to think he will get back to winning next year with some good coaching and better fitting players around him.

I can't say I watch their games, but nearly every time I check the box scores he puts up damn good numbers for a rookie. Davis didn't do all that much his rookie year, he really only broke out in his soph season. From the limited amount I've watched of Towns, he plays with a lot of poise...and he's versatile, he can do it all.
Okafor definitely seems to have his number so far though...
Davis is a good player, a lot of his struggles are probably due to having shitty teammates, but he seems less versatile despite the freak athleticism. He has no back-to-basket game, and doesn't seem to pass much. I'm not sure how good he actually is on defense, he seems to bite a lot of pump fakes, it remains to be seen if he can anchor a defense. He also seems pretty injury prone. Too early to say anyways.

Davis is averaging 23 points per game on 48% from the field as an elite big man.
His team has the 5th worst record in the league in his 4th season.

Calling him worse than Duncan and Davis is hating? KAT will be a multi-time all-star, and if he leaves Minny, maybe even a champion.

Call me crazy, but I think I would take KAT. He doesn't have the extreme upside that Davis does, but he also doesn't seem injury prone like Davis.

You can't just compare "rookies". You have to compare them at the same age.
Like this:
Tyreke Evans(20yrs): 20.1, 5.3, 5.8, .529TS
Kobe Bryant(20yrs): 19.9, 5.3, 3.8, .549TS

I really like Davis but KAT may be better because of how injury-prone Davis is and his offensive ceiling is a bit higher.
Davis' defense underwhelms too.
