Kobe might just be the greatest of all time behind MJ. We haven't seen this type of admiration and adoration from fans, players, coaches, and GMs since MJ. Kobe is a true ambassador of the game. No Gimmicks. Laid his heart and soul flat out on the court every night. He had that same mentality MJ had, giving the fans their money worth no matter how sh*tty, run down, or exhausted he felt on that day.

What a true legend     :applause: :applause: :applause:

you're right. no disrespect to the old timer greats, the game and league were just too different back then. they definitely did set the stage for the likes of MJ and Kobe.

Kobe was the face of the NBA for a while, held the torch until LeBron entered his prime...but 2nd greatest ever? Get the **** out of here.

He was one hell of a player that's for sure. The game is gunna miss a guy like him. That dude who loves the game more than life itself and loves winning + being the best even more.

no disrespect to Lebron but he's on the Hakeem level tier. he had a couple years of being the best in the NBA but never truly held the torch, it was too hot for him.

You do realize that the majority of ISH's non player stans tier Kobe with Hakeem too, right? :oldlol:

i'm not even sure he truly strives for that. he cares more about money.

no i don't realize that, Kobe is a higher lever winner than Hakeem or Lebron. i can see an argument for Kobe being on the Bird, Magic, and Duncan level tier, but he has the slight edge over them.

I admire Kobe's greatness, but I'm a NBA stan first and foremost. for instance, I'll admit Curry is the best in the league right now, even with Kobe still playing loool. ok, and I'll also admit Lebron was better than Curry in last year's finals. but how can you argue against Kobe being a greater winner than Lebron or Hakeem?

His torch barring days ended when he raped Kate. So he changed his number like he thought it could change his past.

his image took a hit from that false accusation. but even as people were trying to make him stumble and drop the torch, he held it more firmly than ever. that's when he turned into the Mamba. a killer with no regard for human life on the court. that fu attitude to shoot the ball as many times as he pleased. that same attitude that produced the greatest scoring display we have ever seen, dropping 81 points in the modern era. if it wasn't for Kate, I'm not even sure Kobe would have manifested into the greatness we know now today.

or women's rights. It was settled so fast and swept under the rug. pretty amazing how kobe used rape as inspiration to propel his career. What a time

do you truly believe someone would use rape to propel their career if they are guilty? isn't it more likely a false accusation that would propel someone to fight harder than they ever had? Kobe was guilty of only one thing, and that was cheating on his wife.

its a twisted world that we live in. If you have enough money you can make many problems go away.

this is true but when you're in the spotlight like Kobe was and your career is largely dependent on image, would you want a false rape accusation lingering? it's terrible PR regardless

one thing is for sure, he rose from the ashes and dominated the league like only MJ had.

Not that my opinion is all that important but I rank Kobe higher than Hakeem, however great both were. This however is a discussion for a different thread, as for op, great comment, it seemed very genuine in spite of the "2nd all-time" phrase. That's only understandable if you try and argue post 1980 though, all-time he'd have a hard time cracking the top 5, #7 for me though

OP swaydizzle , obviously you like Kobe.

He is not an ambassador of the game.
He did not give a rats a$$ about his teammates , because his assist to shoot average would be similar to MJ's.

I appreciate you comparing Kobe to MJ , but Kobe was not in MJ's league of supremacy.

People are happy Kobe is leaving so that the Lakers can get back on track and have a great fan base come back and support the NBA.
