Right now, it's super close. Defensively, Kawhi is so much better and his offense continues to improve. And unlike Bron, he plays optimal, team ball and doesn't dominate the ball on iso and kill offensive flow. Don't know what happened to Bron. It's like the Finals from last year messed with his confidence or something. Getting played in single coverage for most of the series and simply being incredibly inefficient kind of exposed to the world that his iso game was never GOAT level.

Did Durant just die?:biggums:

Possibly, but he'll need to improve his playmaking impact a little more to truly break through that cusp. With LeBron's playmaking, he is still more valuable to his offense, because he frequently scrambles defensive schemes; this in addition to his scoring contributions makes him the superior offense player, which is mainly what's sustaining his edge over the reigning DPoY, IMO.

Any perimeter-oriented superstar will need to be an impactful playmaker, because it makes it harder for defenses to zero in on them and it gives them another contributory avenue for when their shot isn't falling

He is being a bit underrated now while he and his team have been dominating in the shadows of more hot-topic teams and superstars, but the biggest reason he won't dominate these discussions is because he never had a reputation as a two-way player.

Of course; his defense has improved while LeBron's has went on a divergent trajectory, but media narratives are stubborn, and many just remain entrenched in the notion that Kevin Durant is the best offensive Small Forward at best.

A bit of stretch, but that FMVP certainly helps the narrative :lol

Now there is no question Kiwi is better, especially defensively.
