It's a shame he's fallen off a cliff since losing his athleticism

Needed more skill in his game

Hear me out on this

Kobe's game relied way too much on his athleticism

The difference between Kobe today and Kobe in 2013 is that he could jump high enough to hit those fadeaways

Kobe was a flashy player, not really skilled. He routinely shot ridiculously hard shots that required elite athleticism to hit

too bad he can't rely on his brain to cut off the electro signals connecting to his wrists from flipping up such a large amount of shots at such a poor execution rate

Kobe didn't have elite athleticism since his knee injuries in 05. By 2011 he had almost none of it. But yeah he could still jump and move better enough to be great cause he did it basically with skills. Right now with the Achilles injury he doesn't even have the minimum required.

His athleticism in 2005 was just fine :facepalm A year of great dunks for him.

He's talking out of his ass...he didn't even injure his knee in 2005. He had a "sore knee" in 04...but that hardly constitutes an injury. He never had any serious problems with his knees till he fractured the knee two season ago. Kobe stans always want to underrate his athleticism and make him out to be the Larry Bird of shooting guards...it's ridiculous.

the year they got swept by dallas, kobes knees were old man status. phil had him sitting out of practices, as well as playing his fewest minutes per game in recent memory.

it was that summer that kobe flew over to germany, started spinning some blood and pissed of all of ISH with his new favorite medical procedure.

Kobe had elite athleticism up until around 09/10 season were greatly declined with his speed, quickness, jumping ability, strength, etc.

And then achilles snapped and elite Kobe was over with.

The 3 most important things in bball IMO:
-Skill
-Athleticism
-Decision making

Kobe had skill and athleticism, and it was enough to over take his decision flaws. Now he still has skill, but the athleticism isn't there to cancel out the poor decision making.

LeBron, for comparison sake:
-Lower skill than Kobe
-Higher athleticism
-Higher decision making

We'll see how he does in old age with lowered athleticism while having lower skill but better decision making. I think it will make him age better than Kobe despite athleticism being more important to peak LeBron.

When did Kobe have bad decision making?

Other than 2012, I don't see any bad decision making while he was on a contending team.
