You can have good stats but hurt your team... numbers do lie sometimes. #onlypeoplethatknowthegameunderstandthat
Vucevic and Fournier responded...

Vucevic and Gobert are good friends, so I doubt he was talking about him.

Whiteside has a child's mentality in a Goliath-like body. His face resembles a child and he even sounds like a child.
When he gets put on the spot he gives child like responses (2K Rating interview) and when he gets challenged he fights like a child (vs. Alex Len).
He has all the physical tools to be a beast, he's just a mental midget.

What does Whiteside have to do with the Heat's shooting being absolutely nonexistant?

Good point, watching the game today he was definitely pulling his weight, only the rest of the Heat (outside of maybe Bosh) just laid a giant collective egg. I think Wade might've had only like 2 points (never checked the final box score) which kind of blows. People say the Heat were banged up but when 3 of the 4 guys missing almost don't play anyways, you can't really say that. That being said, the Bucks were getting whatever they wanted in the paint tonight, they weren't afraid of Whiteside...

Granted it's a team effort, and I think this is probably a misguided judgement from Gobert (if there is one). We all saw how he dominated the Nuggets, his presence can be felt, just wasn't tonight.

Damn, so Whiteside translates roughly to "yellow belly" in French?

Whitesides shithouse.
Yeah, cool, gets some blocks, but he cherry picks what he defends, isn't really a consistent defender of the paint overall.
Terrible offense too.
Gobert is actually spot on.

how do you get whiteside from blancote?
if anything he is calling out vucevic since vucevic is the one who responded.

Not sure why Whiteside gets so much hate. You can say he is who we thought he was, but honestly he's actually BETTER than most people thought he was.
Yeah he has a terrible motor and all that, but this isn't anything new. Old ****ing news.

Yeah, no impact  - only 23 points and 18 boards on 9 shots. Not like he wasn't the sole reason Miami won the last game it won or anything.
Sounds like Gobert is jealous.

This (http://www.thescore.com/nba/news/932022) may explain why Gobert thinks what he does.

What would he be jealous of? I just saw them face off and wasn't impressed with Whiteside like I am nightly by Rudy? He had a double double with some blocks in that one too.

Miami's perimeter defense is garbage. Dude faces more attempts at the rim than any of the other guys because his team is useless at keeping the guys out of the paint.

Does that explain why they're so much better defensively with him on the bench though? Not like it's a small sample size.

A better basketball player who's gonna get paid a whole lot more money than him.

What were the stats from last season?
A lot of that stuff is so circumstantial. Depending on the situation, Whiteside could be stuck in rotations with shitty defenders to leak up all the holes.

Actually, they're from this season.
In Friday's win over the Suns, the Heat were a plus-17 with Whiteside on the bench, while the big man was a team-worst minus-9 in his 19 minutes of action. That's fairly standard for Miami, which performs roughly five points better per 100 possessions when Whiteside rides the pine.
In 734 Whiteside-free minutes this season, the Heat allowed just 94.5 points per 100 possessions - a mark that would trail only the top-ranked Spurs. In 1,009 minutes with Whiteside on the court, the Heat defended like the 16th-ranked Grizzlies (102.1 defensive rating), their defensive rebound rate also dipping despite Whiteside's prolific individual performance.

He didn't look better to me. Supposedly he's been playing hurt but Rudy just got back from injury too. He's older as well. Rudy will get the 5 year max from the Jazz this summer or next.

Whiteside is better at finishing than Gobert, though.
