Was just looking at the thread of who was the biggest letdown; T-Mac, Rose, or Arenas.....
And I couldn't help but thinking about Amar'e Stoudemire..........As a 22 year old he averaged 37 and 10 on 57% shooting against the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals......
Let me repeat, AS A 22 YEAR OLD....
The last game we got to see the real pre-microfracture him was his 42 points and 16 boards Game 5 of that series.....
I remember watching that series, and he was totally unstoppable.....Duncan and the Spurs had no answer for him....They had an answer for the team, but not for him....He was just awesome....
That season, again as a 22 year old, avg'd 26 and 9 on 56% shooting.....Some of that was even at when he was 21.....
It is a testament to him that he came back to avg. 25 and 8 for the Knicks later in his career, but he was completely a shell of his freakish athletic self......
Shame we never got to see what that 22 year old monster would have turned into as say a 27 year old in his prime.......
If he was avg. 37 and 10 against on 57% the Spurs at 22......Imagine what his prime would have been.....
Anyway, not his fault due to injury, but that is one of the absolute biggest letdowns to me.....
