If someone paid $2 billion for the Clippers on the open market, then I'm sure the Knicks would fetch $4-5 billion if they were actually for sale.

I would guess it's because...that's where they are located lol. Are they gonna move from MSG or something? Nooo. :lol

the clippers have 13 championships from when they were the celtics

but in all seriousness ... yes. their sale price was also built mostly on location

and its ludicrous...

why doesnt the owner of a shit team like the bucks or some shit go and move their team into MSG aswell and share the building like clippers/lakers

who cares if it makes sense or not to anyone else...

then turn around and flip the franchise for double its original value

obviously. the lakers should be worth double .. maybe triple that of any other team

why?

because they have one of the biggest locations AND one of the most stacked legacies...

the laker name would be huge no matter where they were... move them to edmonton alberta canada and theyed still sell out every night

the knicks are a shit team. have a joke of a history. have sucked for a long time and would collapse if they left new york

"Imagine, that in 1988, when the league added four expansion franchises (Miami, Orlando, Minnesota and Charlotte), those franchises cost $32.5 million each. The Heat is now worth $1.3 billion."

32.5 million in 1988 was worth around 100 million in todays world though

The lakers do not have 100% market share or even close. The north east if you take like a 100 mile radius you'll have something like 1/3 of the population of the US. That might require some minor tweaks but the point stands. The lakers direct market is large but like it or not the North East dwarfs all other markets.

cause the nba has to approve the move and that would hurt nba market value as a whole....christ do you ever think?

It really is amazing how stupid the human race is. Instead of spending all that money to further benefit us on something like science, humans would rather choose instant gratification in the form of entertainment and pay to watch people throw a ball through a hoop. :lol

The thing is we don't spend all that much on basketball. We pay for tv because we're lazy and stupid. The ad revenue that sells us (well you people) bud light is what pays for the majority of this.

The fact that much can be generated by ad revenue even solidifies my point that humans are stupid because they'd rather spend all that money on instant gratification rather than long term advancement.

Let's just borrow money from China to solve our problems!!

Oh shit, China's economy is tanking now! Quick... print more money! :lol

I am really surprised that the Suns are worth a bill.......

That is pretty high for a team that has been stuck in mediocrity and no real bright future (outside of booker)
must have good revenues, not all about production on court. They are pretty heavily marketed around the world I think, you tend to see quite a bit of retro suns gear sold merchandise wise.
