Kawhi has not carried a team the way Durant has. He has played well for periods of time (like the Finals) but not consistently night after night the way Durant has done for quite a while now.

Chris Paul owned last season.
His offense is overrated. It's 6 at best.

Kawhi is better than Durant ever was for the simple reason that Durant has always been a mediocre defender.

Heck 40-year-old Duncan is better than Durant ever was.

We don't need to wait for the playoffs ... Durant hasn't proven anything yet.

Big Kawhi fan here

Durant is obviously more talented than Kahwi overall, but if you look at the first half of this season Kawhi played better in a lot of areas. His defense makes him extremely valuable. His defense this year has been as valuable as Durants offense.

psshhhh. 20 points on 50% from the field AND from beyond the arc, is not a 6 at best.

What did you just say?

You meant that combined with his defense, Kawhi has had more impact than Durant? Because otherwise....

Leonard got the "Lebron" boost. By playing against Lebron in the Finals, you look like a GOD. Just like eveery PG that played against Fisher looked like CP3.

Give Leonard more time before you can say he's better than KD, who has proven himself over his career so far.

durant averages 3 assists per game for his career

neither one of them is a good playmaker

leonard for a 6-7 guy averaging 7rpg is more impressive than a 7 footer averaging 7.9rpg

sorry... kawhi is the more skilled rebounder

said it before 2014 playoffs, still true.

Leonard is as good or better than Durant at everything except purest scoring with the ball in his hands.

when I first said it there were at least 5 pages of howling until he won FMVP about 5 or 7 weeks later

it's still true.

You said it before the 2014 playoffs?

So then, if you had switched 2014 Durant with Kawhi for last year's Spurs vs Clippers series, SA still loses, right? Talking about the 2014 Durant who averaged 32-7-5....

:facepalm

kWh this year certainly has a case, Durant hasn't been playing as well as he did pre-injury, but come on now. 2014 Durant was legendary type shit, and he wasn't an average defender either, he was a good one.

didn't say anything about hypotheticals.

Yeah that was the same Durant who went from thirty something down to 15 and 20 against the Spurs in the CF. Didn't disappear, but he got slowed down very drastically.

That's how it was and that's how it is.

Kawhi's defense is an outstanding 10. As far as Chris Paul is concerned, that's Pop's fault. Kawhi should not be chasing a crafty PG like Paul over screen after screen - that should be Parker, Green or Mills.

You do realize this is Leonard first season playing at this level and Durant has played at mvp level for 4 years. Durant leads his team in rebounding with his 7.9 and they are top 2 rebounding team in the league. If u are using career stats to compare the 2 Durant blows Leonard away at this point in there careers. Durant assit have been between 4-6 for last 3 years. I will give u Leonard is a better defender and agree he is probably the best perimeter defender in the league but Durant is a good defender as well and is the better player.

Durant will have to prove that he wasn't just blowing smoke about Paul George being better than Leonard. I remember him on twitter talkin hella greasy about Kawhi being a "product of a system" and etc.

Time to put his money where his mouth is. Can't wait til they play.

no. stats are useless to talk about on this deal.

How come Lamarcus Aldridge all of a sudden this year is awful if you go by stats? He went from 23 ppg down to 16!!! That's like a 30% drop off what a chump he turned into... right?

Or do stats mean something else when a guy plays on the Spurs? That team is just as balanced attack as I have ever seen

Not a chance. Kawhi's offense wouldn't look nearly as good on a different team. His defense is obviously superior, but it doesn't close the gap with KD.

MellowYellow
01-20-2016, 05:10 PM
As the #1 dude without the help of 3 hall of famers and the GOAT coach the answer would be obviously Durant, but the fact is Kawhi has the perfect situation. If you were to trade them for each other OKC would suffer and so would SA so it's really tough to compare them without context.

Durant did put up 30 on 55% his first NBA finals at age 23.

30 and over 50% has rarely been done in the finals. And that was against an excellent defensive team at their peak.
