http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/01/feature-astronomers-say-neptune-sized-planet-lurks-unseen-solar-system

Basically in a nutshell there is a 1 in 15000 chance that certain bodies in the outer solar system orbit the Sun the way they do if there WASN'T a planet about the size of the earth. So it's probable something lurks way out there influencing these bodies.

The say the object should be about 10x the size of earth and it takes roughly 15,000 years to orbit the Sun once. It has a highly elliptical orbit.

They are concentrating efforts to physically find it and say it should be able to within 5 years.

oh the horror

As far as space exploration it's wild how little we know and how much of this is still in its infancy. Yet, some are so sure we're all that exists as far as life as we know it in the universe. Human beings are funny

The solar system appears to have a new ninth planet. Today, two scientists announced evidence that a body nearly the size of Neptune—but as yet unseen—orbits the sun every 15,000 years. During the solar system’s infancy 4.5 billion years ago, they say, the giant planet was knocked out of the planet-forming region near the sun. Slowed down by gas, the planet settled into a distant elliptical orbit, where it still lurks today.

This looks interesting, Neptune is the most fascinating planet IMO.

How is it that we have been discovering planets around OTHER stars for years now but missed one within our own solar system?

leftist libtards being PC need to apply affirmative action to grant more exploratory resources to disadvantaged and distant solar systems.

I'm guessing those planets are up against a sun, so we can see their silhouette so to speak as they pass by between us and their sun. There's no light source out there in the Ort Cloud, Kaiser Belt or whatever you call it to help spot these objects. This is what I've gleaned from putting on NASA lectures occasionally when I'm bored driving. Now I'll wait for someone to come in and correct me. :lol

Why?
Dark matter is just a name to account for mass that should be around based on other factors but hasn't been found. At least that's how I was taught it.

My bad, I was thinking Dark Matter was something other than what it is. I just thought black hole for whatever reason even though that's kind of stupid. Now that I am more educated on the subject, that'd be freaking cool
