A Connecticut high school student has been pulled out of classes and reported to police for substituting "ISIS" for the "United States of America" during the Pledge of Allegiance.

"ISIS" is a term commonly used for the Islamic State group.

Lt. Andrew Cota says the 15-year-old student at Ansonia High School wasn't charged, but the case was turned over to the Department of Homeland Security. Police say there is no danger to the community. Federal officials declined to comment.

The boy, who wasn't identified, now attends classes in a Board of Education annex building.

An attorney representing the school and Board of Education says the boy's dismissal was "out of an abundance of caution."

The boy's mother said at a board meeting that removing her son from school was an irrational decision.

Very irrational to remove your son who just substituted ISIS for America in the pledge of allegiance.

It is irrational. Suspend him or give him ISS for saying something dumb. Kicking a 15 year old out of highschool for that is retarded.

Hmm. Surely this is a violation of the student's right to freedom of speech. He is a ****, but thought crimes and speech crimes shouldn't be punished like this IMO. Alert homeland security, have them check the kid out just incase he is an ISIS f*ck, but he shouldn't be kicked out of his school.

Why don't you ever link us to the websites you get this stuff from? This way we can read the entire story instead of having you post 2-3 paragraphs at a time, as if you are some sort of George RR Martin with the suspense you create in your threads.

Chalk it up as something dumb?

At the very least, it stands to reason that he was motivated from someone else. Now, the question is, what it his father? A family member? Or another kid in class?

If he thought it'd be funny, then sure, ISS. Removing him from class for pledging allegiance to ISIS, joke or not, is not irrational. If a kid pledged allegiance to the Fuhrer or the Grand Wizard, I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal either...

Regardless, please post the link to everything you post on here. Heaven knows you aren't capable of coming up with your own thoughts. It's a non-story, considering they barely wrote more than a few lines.

STOP PC doe.

What more can they say about a juvenile? You know, legally, there's not much information to give out. Maybe thats why it was so short, just a thought. What more information do you want? You want his race, is that relevant to you? His religion maybe? Do you care, I don't.

All I know is a kid pledged allegiance to ISIS, out loud in class. Its no different to me if he pledged his allegiance to the Nazis or the KKK, its unacceptable and has no place in school.

Now, again, the question is, what motivated him? Does his father speak like that at home? Is this another 'clock kid' charade? Did his friends encourage him? Was it a joke, or was he sincere? We don't know because (as a friendly reminder since you didn't seem to know already) not much can be said because he is a juvenile.

Given the amount of news reports relating people in this country with ISIS, you'd think you could admit that, maybe, just maybe, its a growing problem. Nah, keep ignoring it, it never happened, its all just a bad dream. Let it go. Shhhhh. It never happened....

For all we know, he could be just saying that for kicks. A real life troll. Not worthy of expulsion, but whatever...

Correct, and chances are, we may never know. If it was sincere, it will be swept under the rug. If it was a joke, it won't be written about again.

But, it was important enough to be written about here:

One thing that's not helping this kid's case is his unapologetic mother. She says that the whole thing is made up, that her kid never said anything about ISIS and the principal is basically out to get the child. Like there weren't dozens of student witnesses there who could have contradicted the teacher and principle's story.

He was obviously trolling. No one that pledges to them is going to say it like that. Still, what a retard that kid is.

Lol! If it was a black kid who said it and got shot, you'd be all over the cops' nuts saying that they were justified in shooting a terrorist sympathizer. Hypocrisy.
