Same style of play, same height, savvy passing, versatile, inconsistent shooting and passive/unselfish

Odom - 19/10/4
Simmons - 20/12/5

soft on defense
doesn't contest layups/shooters
barely see him fight for position

Bottom line is his athletism is talented enough to dominate at the college level but NBA defenses will back off him will limit his ability to get to the basket, which is his focal glaring strength.

He doesn't have Odom's demons. The softness on D probably comes from being the only consistent player on this LSU team. He is the primary scorer/facilitator. I like his game and I think it will translate well to the NBA.

Odom had fantastic physical tools as well as great instincts for the game. What he didn't have was a strong motor. From what I understand and seen, Simmons has a better motor and explosiveness.

Per 40 mins comparison of their college stats:

Simmons
22.8/15.1/6.1/3.4 stocks, with a 68.2% FTr to boot. Little evidence of outside shot (33% on 0.2 3PA is inconsequential). Shooting 73.6% from the line

Odom
20.2/10.8/4.4/2.8 stocks, with a 43.2% FTr. 33% shooter from downtown on 3.6 attempts, showing much better outside shooting ability. 68.7% from the line.

Odom with the right mindset in today's game would be a monster.

The 3 reasons you listed for him being "lamar odom 2.0" is because his coach doesnt want him being too aggressive and getting into foul problems. They need him on the floor because they have no chance of winning without him

simmons puts up great rebounding numbers, yet his team is one of the worst rebounding teams in the country, so his rpg has to be inflated.

I doubt it. Odom was a great talent but he admitted to smoking weed before every game and we all know about his poor eating habits...Simmons seems like a much more promising prospect.
