Pistons started 41 - 9 , Golden State 41 - 4.
Would the Pistons defence be able to handle the golden state... Unlike the Spurs defence today.

That 2006 Pistons team wasn't quite as sharp defensively as the '04 championship club. Interestingly, the Pistons' biggest move forward was offensively that season.
I mean, they were still good/great that year ('06 was when they had four all-stars) but I'm not sure they were somehow epic enough to be able to reel in what I've been seeing out in Golden State lately.

Yeah, the Flip-era Pistons IMO wouldn't have even been able to compete with GSW over a 7-game series. 2004 or 2005 under Larry Brown though? A much better debate.

Despite the record differences, the 04/05 pistons were a better defensive team. I can't see them lock down the Warriors in today's game with the rules. Pre-2005? Very close game.

they are the greatest defensive team to ever play in the NBA in 04. Held opponents to like 84 points in the playoffs. Made Duncan shoot like 40% in 05 in the finals.

I'd give the edge to the Warriors at this moment, the only teams I could realistically see defeating them are the 01' Lakers, 96' Bulls, and 86' Celtics
