What is the driving force behind minority groups being allowed to segregate themselves to exclusive award ceremonies and such - while it is generally a universally frowned upon thing for a group perceived to be of the majority? And for the record I don't just mean race, I mean any club or group you could think of that chooses to create it's own "in" circle of awards to put itself apart from the majority. Is it just "race" where this becomes sensitive? Is it something that comes off as douchy? Is it genuinely bigoted?

Say a group of peoples had a mass immigration to China or Mongolia or something. They then comprise 10% of the population of a given area. They then create pride groups of their group bespoke to their group. Would it be bigoted if a few people of the general populace around them of mostly Chinese or Mongolians then also decided to make a Chinese/Mongolian exclusive group? This is a genuine question and if there is no clear answer that's fine I'm not suggesting things need to change or anything as to be honest I'm perfectly okay with how things are I'm merely asking for opinions.
