Taking the family to Disney World...any tips? Ever been?

Anyone ever been? How was it? I love amusement parks, but i've never been to Disney World. I've been to Universal Studios a lot, though.

Space Mountain was my first roller coaster experience. Don't know if your kid is old enough to ride it yet. But definitely a cool experience. I'm sure everyone will love the parade at night. :cheers:

We took my niece last year. It's a never ending sequence of lines, all in oppressive heat, and at obscene cost. She definitely loved it, but the truth is she would've loved just staying in the hotel (we stayed at an animal kingdom hotel where you could see giraffes (or is the plural giraffe?) out the window, and they had a great pool with a slide and a rope swing).

One trick I would advise is send adults to various lines and then shuttle her to the line that's moving the quickest. It was a practice that didn't seem to bother anyone either.

Later that summer we took her to Sesame Place in Pennsylvania, and it was a much better trip with more freedom, and at less cost. And frankly she didn't even know much sesame street when we went.

Lineups and waittimes are brutal. Everything is horrendously overpriced. Food, parking, souvenirs, etc. Given your financial situation, I advise you to not go.

all the complaints about lines and cost are valid. but honestly, you could go there and not ride a single ride and your kids will LOVE it. children just love disneyland/world no matter what.

I live about an hour and a half away and have never been, but the traffic in and around the parks in Orlando is absolutely awful--something to take into consideration. Plan accordingly. Also, go during the cooler weather months. You don't want to stand outside in Florida for hours on end May-September. It will ruin your trip.

Went when I was like 12. Around spring time. Was awesome!

No idea about costs at that age but my parents had saved up for a long time, and we went for a week and stayed in on-site hotels.

At the time I believe there were 5 different major parks. We saw them all plus went back to our 2 favorites of them on the 2 extra days. Still didn't see everything. The parks and attractions are just so vast you'll never see it all no matter how long you're there. Your kids will surely love it though :cheers:
