You needed a video to tell you this? I keep pointing it out, though no-one seems to be listening, that part of Donald Trump's appeal comes from his being looked down upon like this, because his supporters are used to being belittled and looked down upon by the media and 'intellectual' elites, and thus see him as one of them.

A video like the above will only serve to make the man more popular.

Why is literally everything you have to say completely irrelevant to what is being discussed?

Don't make a thread about the obvious and not expect anyone to point out how obvious it is; somehow telling everyone what they already know is some kind of novel 'exposure' now .

'Trump uses simple language and goes in roundabouts': no shit dude.

The video is much, much more sophisticated than this. It's way better than I thought it would be, give it a couple of minutes.

And it's not at all about the language being looked down upon or scorned. Sarah Palin uses that language, but is about 1,000 times less persuasive than Trump is.

You can read it here. (https://www.bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2015/10/20/donald-trump-and-ben-carson-speak-grade-school-level-that-today-voters-can-quickly-grasp/LUCBY6uwQAxiLvvXbVTSUN/story.html)

Penn Jillette said Trump was a very different guy off camera when you spoke to him.

The guy who writes Dilbert says that Trump is very, very, very well schooled in NLP and the language of persuasion and specifically, Milton Erickson. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_H._Erickson)

If you think Trump actually has the ability to solve our problems, than all this has worked on you.

People are just now realizing Trump deliberately uses simple language? Again. Simple language is part of what he is doing.
But it's only about 1/100 of what he is doing.

He is using a language of persuasion that is very sophisticated and takes a very long time to master.

Trump is obviously a DNC plant.
Mexicans are drug dealers and rapists=mexicans voting for dems
Everything he does is to fire up the idiot conservatives, speaking in simple language with no substance, etc.
His latest move to hold a vet event on the same day of the GOP debate=splitting GOP base attention.

Funny thing is, all major networks covering the Trump event had political commentary dubbed over the conservative message of Huckabee and Santorum with "Fox News vs Trump" while Trump spewed his spiel with no substance. This effectively split the GOP base's attention and voters on the fence who tuned in had no chance to resonate with conservative policy.

I decided to finish the video, and the guy says trump isnt smart, but lets be real, the guy is very smart. Well informed politically? No, but its clear hes made much smarter moves than the rest of the Republicans time and time again.
Exactly. You don't get to the spot Trump is currently at by being an idiot.

People don't realize that politicians change and put on an act when on the campaign trail.

George W. Bush for example wasn't raised in Texas, he was raised on the East coast. He probably isn't a super genius but he graduated from Yale and is pretty well educated and intelligent.

George W. Bush started acting stupid as a way to connect to common voters. When he first became a politician he didn't say the stupid shit that he did while president. He purposefully dumbed himself down to connect with the audience AND IT WORKED.

Remember when people used to accuse Obama of being "too intelligent"? He also had to dumb down his speeches and stop using big words.

EVEN THOUGH WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD WANT SOMEONE HYPER INTELLIGENT IN CHARGE-the common voter wants a relatable idiot.

Trump is speaking simple words and using Buzzfeed style shock headline journalism lingo BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT CONNECTS WITH THE WIDEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THIS DAY AND AGE.

When someone is intelligent and qualified, the common American voter, instead of thinking "hmm I want that smart guy in office leading" actually thinks "I can't trust that guy, he's too slick, he must be a muslim commie homo-supporter."

Politicians DUMB THEMSELVES DOWN ON PURPOSE. It's the best way to connect with the most people.

Most retard voters want a president they can "sit down and have a beer with."

If Trump and George W were actually morons, they wouldn't have gotten to the positions they did in life.

Ben Carson for example IS A SUCCESSFUL NEUROSURGEON. Stupid people can't become neurosurgeons. But he acts stupid on the campaign trail.

Yes it's the lost art of oratory. Obama was a recent master, and Trump has obviously been studying up and reading his Cicero.

it makes me laff how the liberal ISH media always attacks Trump here when he is the one candidate who brings attention to the issues. he is the one who made border control a emphasis and everyone else then realized it was a big deal. Dem's pretended the whole time like it didn't matter just like they pretended Hillary's email scandal was all fictitious :facepalm

nobody is more delusional than Dem's when it comes to view on politicians and current events. you all are so easy to fool, so naive thinking we can form some utopian society where everyone gets along and everyone is equal, and have no clue about the seesaw of issues. Dem's are also THE worst at foreign policy, soft as fukk, and timid, meek like richard simmons personalities.

I think what he meant to say is Trump is not an expert. He mentions a good salesman doesn't need to know about a TV to sell you that TV. Trump is smart at persuasion and salesmanship, but he really doesn't know that much. When you get down to a two person race that's going to be more obvious.

Who comes off as more knowledgeable here Trump or Rubio?
http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2015/12/17/what-is-nuclear-triad-debate-sot.cnn/video/playlists/2016-republican-presidential-debates/

Trump completely avoids the question, doesn't actually seem to understand that's not about proliferation, and then on top of that lies about being against the Iraq War in 2002.*

Being a candidate is a great deal about salesmanship, but also have to know things.

*First time he came out against it, was July 2004 16 months after the war started and 2 months Iraq exploded with both a Sunni and Shia insurgency in April 2004.

Not important in this day and age. Being intelligent or a "know-it-all" is held against presidential candidates these days.:lol :lol :lol

American voters want stupid, simple and relatable.

Not true. He was born in Connecticut, but moved to Texas when he was two years old. He was raised in Midland and Houston.

In Midland, he attended Sam Houston Elementary School and San Jacinto Junior High and then in Houston he went to Kinkaid School.

At 15 he left for boarding school in Massachusetts.

You could say he finished his education in the East, but he was raised in Texas.

Nope, you still need to know things. Sarah Palin's favorability ratings fell 20 points in just over a week after she spoke with Katie Couric and America found out she was a lightweight.

Classic salesman techniques.

Using buzzwords that trigger an impulse. Don't say too much, just give enough information and litter your sales with buzzwords. You also don't wanna come across as a salesman (a politician in this case) to gain sympathy and trust.

The best salesmen are the ones that don't appear to be salesmen, the best politicians are the ones that don't appear to be ones.

Agreed, his marketing is on another level from the others. The best way to win elections is to connect with the idiots. Trump understands this, the others don't.
