Stupid question I know, everyknow knows he was the point guard for the bad boys pistons teams that won in 89 and 90..
But when I looked at the allstar reserves list that just came out, I see his name on it? I immediately went da ***?
Turns out theres a 5'9 guy shooting 42% on the fukn Celtics that made the all-star team.
Is this one of the shittiest selections ever? Literally never even heard of this guy. all-stars are supposed to be Cornerstones of a franchise, not guys that will be bumping around on new teams every year.
Meanwhile legit players such as Lillard, Dirk, Gasol, Deandre Jordan don't make the team.
Aldridge is overrated as shit too. I don't even think he's more impactful than Duncan. They just wanted to put a 2nd Spur on there no matter what, and Duncan misses too many games.

Yeah it's kinda a weird pick, he might score 20 ppg but his defense is just appalling

They needed a celtic in there. Should've been Brad Stevens tbh.

How do you not know who Isaiah Thomas is? :facepalm

42% shooting isn't the only thing he does, that's an extremely unfair presentation. He averages 21 points and 6 assists for the team with the fifth-best record in the EC, 26-21. There are players with solid All-Star arguments that didn't make it but Thomas is not the guy to single out as a baseless selection.

you dont watch basketball if A) you dont know who he is and B). dont think he deserves to be an all star
He's not worse than Korver last season.
What's so bad about 21PPG on .424/.347/.892 and 6.6APG for a point guard?
You Bran stan are still caught up on all of that FG% eh?

Yup. IT is benefiting from the success of the Boston Celtics.

In short: you don't know anything about basketball or the NBA.
If you watch games and not only box scores you'd know that Isaiah is beastin' right now

He's more deserving that Irving.

1) It's the ASG. Defense isn't going to be played until 4th quarter.
2) He's probably going to see the least or 2nd least amount of minutes in terms of guards of the team.

OP you better start knowing that name, he deserves the spot, I would have liked to have seen coach Stevens get the coaching role (or Casey for that matter) but I'll live with it, good to see IT in there.

Because the ASG is all about defense

Where in my post did I say anything about the ASG?
His play on the offenive side is fine, but his defense is terrible. I AM NOT SURE THIS WARRANTS AN AS SELECTION

His defense isn't any worse than some of the other all star selections. The Celtics have like a top 5 defense with his as the starting PG playing major minutes.

I think Thomas or Gasol are pretty even
I never said I didn't like Thomas being picked, you just don't expect to see him on the All Star reserve

Top 12 in the league in both points and assists. Shoots the same FG% as James Harden (who's probably a worse defender btw), and a higher % than Lillard. Best player on a team with a 26-21 record and a top 5 seed in the East. Obvious all star. Every TNT panelist had him on their lists, as did most other NBA analysts.

Many media outets saw Thomas as an All Star. Everyone on TNT's panel had him on their selections
it's not like he's a 12th guy on the bench.
how can you have never heard of him if you watch the nba?? his name comes up pretty often and i dont even follow his team.

Your user name indicates you have followed the NBA for just short of 30 years, yet in that time you haven't learned a thing.
over the last 82 games
Golden St. 71-11
San Antonio 65-17
Cleveland 61-21
OKC 56-26
LA Clippers 54-28
BOSTON 49-33
Toronto 49-33
and IT is a big reason for that. Should have won 6th man last season as well

Wtf? I only watch the Celtics because of Isaiah. AI got 2 all-star selections shooting under 40%.
Not selecting him because his defense is sub-par would be a joke because he's still the most impactful player overall on that team. Their closer.

Don't be surprised, people use that same argument to try and discredit D-Rose's MVP season. It's sad that ISH has deteriorated to this, smh

Correct. He deserves to be there, based on his play, his team, and his competition (there isn't much).
He's not an all-star caliber player, but I remember when Jamaal Magloire made the all-star team. It's just because the position is weak in the East right now. There are hardly any good 2-guards (unlike 10 years ago, when every star was a SG), and most of the great point guards happen to be out West.

He probably does deserve to be an all star but that says more about the Eastern Conference than it does about IT. He's a good not great scorer, but mediocre at every other facet of the game.

Well considering the eastern conference is pretty damn good this season i'm not sure exactly what that says about IT's allstar selection other than it's a solid choice.

East might be playing better but yeah the west still has more "allstars"
Thomas isn't as bad as some of the centers from the 00's in the east who made the team though.

Also because of his size and being able to get shots inside he draws a lot of fouls on centers which I find makes it harder for the team to protect the paint overall.
