Jordan had some horrific shooting games in his career clinching games. That was for sure. Hell, his team won a game seven in which he shot 9-25, and a clinching Finals game in which he shot 5-19. He also had horrible clinching games in much of the 80's.

If there's one player in NBA history who has no right being associated with the term alpha male, it's Scottie Pippen.

The fact that you made a thread that points out a single game proves that Pippen coming anywhere near Jordan's performance is the rare exception, not the rule.

So thanks for proving that Pippen playing that well is the exception, not the rule... Good job... :applause:

Otoh, we know that MJ scored at least 10 ppg more than Pippen for every single playoff series of their careers together (except two, where MJ scored 5 ppg and 7 ppg more).

No player has ever come anywhere NEAR doing that much more than their 2nd option... Only MJ, because he's the GOAT... Of course, in addition to scoring 10 ppg more than Pippen for every series of their careers, MJ also led the team in assist % for for both 3-peats (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11713121&postcount=49) and was the team's best defender (this was commonly known AT THE TIME (

I don't know why people believe this interview is true. Maybe some of the stories are true but some of them are definitely false.

That 1995 episode with Muggsy Bogues could not have happened. Glen Rice and Zo were never on the same team since they were traded for each other, that series was never tied 2-2, and there was never a game 5. Now maybe Johnny Bach got mixed up with the games, but in the game 4 that actually went down to the wire it was Larry Johnson that took the last shot and Muggsy wasn't even in the game.

Pippen is criminally underrated.
For the Bulls to win, they needed MJ to score at least 10 ppg more than Pippen for every series of their careers - no #1 option was ever required to do this much more than their 2nd option.

2nd options like Mchale, Worthy, Kobe, Wade, Parker/Manu had numerous series where they scored MORE than the #1 option... So how can Pippen be "criminally underrated", when he required his #1 option to do more than any #1 option ever has?

Clearly, he was overshadowed for good reason.

Better play-maker than Jordan, better defender.

They were 1A 1B. Pippens the greatest peritmeter defender of all time. And Jordan rarely had to guard the other teams best player (Pippen didn't much either, but that speaks to how stacked Bulls were on both sides of the ball, and also how well coached they were, Phil being the modern GOAT)

For the Bulls to win, they needed the most stacked rosters on both sides and the best coach ever. Period.

MJ had the most help of any superstar. Still got Russ, Wilt, Shaq, LeBron, and Kareem ahead of him, in no order

Not only did MJ score at least 10 more ppg than Pippen in every playoff series of their careers (no other #1 option's scoring burden was anywhere NEAR that), but MJ also led the team in passing for both 3-peats:

Assist Percentage 1991-1993 Playoffs:

Jordan: 31.1%
Pippen: 23.3%

Pippen: 22.0%

Not only did MJ score at least 10 more ppg than Pippen in every playoff series of their careers (no other #1 option's scoring burden was anywhere NEAR that), but MJ also led the team in passing for both 3-peats:

And yet, as we KNOW from '94, the Bulls didn't NEED Jordan to score 10 ppg more than anyone else.

All they REALLY needed in their six title runs, was for a player to score SLIGHTLY more than PETE MYERS. Had they had even an average SG, instead of that D-Leaguer...and we would be hailing HIM as the GOAT, right?

PETE MYERS = Jordan.

MJ closed the game hitting 5 of 7 from the field including two clutch baskets. Doubt that's been mentioned.

We should create a pseudonym for MJ, just so we can discuss MJ without having 3ball break out of his daily MJ fan circle jerk session just to post some stats and contest everyone's opinion.

Pippen was not a better playmaker than Jordan, nor a better passer (two different things). He was closer as a passer than as a playmaker, though, since playmaking also includes howw much attention you draw etc., which Jordan was worlds beyond Pippen at.

Pippen with 29 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals as the Bulls beat the Cavaliers, 4-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Michael Jordan scored 20 points on 10/27 shooting. Super Pippen led the Bulls into victory.
