The Southern Cassowary, Casuarius casuarius, also known as Double-wattled Cassowary, Australian Cassowary or Two-wattled Cassowary, is a large flightless black bird. It is a ratite and therefore related to the Emu, Ostrich, and the genus Rhea.

Cassowaries are large, flightless birds that are related to emus and found only in Australia and New Guinea. The southern cassowary has a glossy black plumage and a bright blue neck, with red colouring at the nape.

It has hard and stiff plumage, a brown casque, blue face and neck, red nape and two red wattles hanging down its throat. The three-toed feet are thick and powerful, equipped with a lethal dagger-like claw up to 12 cm (4.7 in) on the inner toe.

The plumage is sexually monomorphic, but the female is dominant and larger with a longer casque and brighter-colored bare parts. The juveniles have brown longitudinal striped plumage.

It is the largest member of the cassowary family and is the second heaviest bird on earth, at a maximum size estimated at 85 kilograms (190 lb) and 190 centimetres (75 in).

Normally this species ranges from 127 to 170 centimetres (50–67 in), with females averaging 58 kilograms (130 lb) and males averaging 29 to 34 kilograms (64–75 lb).

My favorite predators/carnivores.... Spotted Hyenas! Especially the Females (they grow up larger, more agressive & stronger and are the Alphas), Pound-for-pound is more deadly than any land animal, grows up to max around 220 lbs, has the strongest jaws/bite pressure than any land animal & #2 on earth (Crocodiles #1), with its special teeth/molars combined it is the only predator/carnivore on earth that crunches down even Elephant bones, digesting 100% of an Animal (compared to the 30-40% of Lions for example), nothing goes to waste... With a very advanced digestive system, it allows it to also work like the garbage men of Africa, digesting/eating even the rotten carcasses keeping Africa clean from desease, except for that also keeping the population in check as Predators, hence are very important Animals.... they have also insane durability/pain tolerance, many are known to survive life with crazy body damage, broken limbs or half a head missing (Lion maulings), which all in all (with jaws/size/smarts) allows them to fight & even kill Lions, despite being 3-5 smaller... is the most social & smart land animal on earth behind only primates, a single pack/clan can grow up to 80 members, when a prey is at their mercy its like jumping into a meatgrinder, they are like land piranhas... Nobody stands a chance in Africa when their entire clan is in Action, not even Lions, who will be just chased of and/or even killed... They care only about food/survival, which is lucky for even Lions, if they were Psychotic/Evil (like their reputation says) enough they have the weapons & amazing strength in numbers/smarts/teamwork to kill out all Lions....

Sorry to break it to you Broseph but these "facts" are all wrong.The Bald Eagle is a larger bodied, heavier bodied eagle than the Aussie Wedge Tail. The Wedge tail does have a larger wingspan like a vulture, which it sort of resembles. Also, the Bald Eagle's average diet consists of only 56% fish except in area specific locations. Those are some ugly ass looking eagles. It's pathetic that they are physically so much bigger than the bald eagle and have larger talons, but the bald eagle still accomplishes more than they do.
