shade of young Kobe right there, starting to like the kid more and more

Whatever happened, Miller didn't make it easy for Philadelphia to draft Porzingis at No. 3. The Sixers wouldn't be afforded Porzingis' physical, nor get a private workout, nor even a face-to-face meeting. After most of the pro day executives cleared out of the gym in Vegas in mid-June, 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie lingered to meet with Miller. Hinkie stopped him in the lobby area and asked Miller about a chance to sit down and visit with Porzingis.

"You said that I would get a meeting with him here," Hinkie told Miller.

"I said, 'I'd try,' and it's not going to work out, Sam," Miller responded.

An awkward silence lingered, the GM and agent, standing and staring. The Porzingis camp wanted no part of the Sixers' situation at No 3. Miller couldn't stop Philadelphia from drafting Porzingis, but he could limit the information they had to make a decision. And did. No physical. No meeting. No workout. The Sixers passed on Porzingis on draft night, clearing the way for the Knicks to select him.

This isn't just Porzingis. Nobody except DLO wanted anything to do with Philly. Not because it's a bad city or a bad team but because no one wanted to play under Hinkie.

surprise surprise, if a franchise treats top talent like shit and OBVIOUSLY impairs said talent's growth, of course no sane pick would want anything to do with them.

People saying they get some good players and they'll start rolling need to understand that players need to be groomed to become good, they need to grow, and you don't grow by playing on a dleague team and losing every single night.

glad porzingod got on the knicks, maybe god finally herd our prayers

unintended consequence of the tanking plan, really no win situation for Hinkie. He gets 76ers all these assets but won't be around to cash in on them

lol moreyball "assets" corporate thinking. They'll just accumulate talented losers, because any self respecting player won't put up with that shit. Welcome to toxic locker rooms, no fundamentals and bad habits, entitlement and a chronic lack of leadership. Good luck competing with that lot or attracting any decent star.
