I'm 24 and about to go out with a second year uni student, so I assume she's ~19.
This conforms under the age divide by two plus seven rule but I still kind of feel weird about it.
Thoughts?

Anything above 18 is game. Don't be an idiot. Stop worrying what people think. When you feel it's time to settle down and it's time to have kids, as long as she's 18 and she's mature, educated and financially capable of holding you down and holding herself down without the help of you, she's all game.
I'm turning 24, I look like I'm 17. It won't look as bad when people see me with an 18 year old as it would sound, especially friends and family just based on my looks. But if you're a 24-25 year old looking like you're 30/35 with receding hairline, balding, not taking care of yourself outside of genetics, you're screwed.
Do what makes you happy, as long as it's legal.

Nah, I look younger than 24 I'm told. Which is very odd because a few years ago all the ladies thought I was 26-27. Now that Im closer to 26-27, the girls think Im like 21-22. I dont really give a ***.

Bro. The past two relationships that were serious, lasted for 3 years each. I spent a great deal being tied down. Now, the girl I was settling down with is gone, I find myself approaching my mid 20's, you need to start deciding. Either you're looking to have fun and settle late 20's, or you're looking forward to settling down now because you've either had your fun or enough.
Remember at one point you'll think you found the one, but at any given instance she can leave. Things happen. Future changes. Life is full of shit you can't control. Don't plot your future unless you surely want to tie yourself down, by all means propose and have a kid.
Keep in mind if the girl is younger than you, she can make mistakes and she has nothing to lose. She can leave whenever she wants.

I say go for it personally. If you're like 30-32, then that's getting a little out of range. But if you're actually 24 like you say, then you should be good

I actually dont plan on settling down till Im in my early thirties. But then again, as you wisely put it, future changes and life is full of shit I can't control. I have no plot for my future except the fact that I want a top tier MBA education and potentially work in the States.

You'll have fun and enjoy yourself. But when it is time to settle, hope you find that girl that wouldn't mind that age gap.

By her being younger, it can also mean he can groom her into what he wants her to be. Shape her and form her into the ideal girl. So when she is legal enough to be out there in clubs and bars she's respectful about it. These younger girls are prone to making mistakes and the older girls are prone to preventing that because they want someone and they want them now. Their afraid of being single forever without the ideal guy themselves. I found pretty girls settling for some ugly ass guys, it's because of their insecurity. They want "forever"

It depends where you and her are mentally. If she's at a stage in her life where she wants to party, then a relationship shouldn't be your play. Girls around that age don't want to be settled. Shit, the majority of them want to explore themselves sexually

This is the most important thing. Don't waste your time wifing someone up who you know deep down isn't there mentally. Remember where YOU stood mentally at what age. It took me to 19-20 to know exactly who I am even though I thought I knew at 16-17. People are finding themselves in these ages.

Half plus seven is a good starting place. It is a good rule to prevent from being truly creepy. But, that does not mean it fits everybody's values. If the 19 year old feels too immature, nothing says you have to continue. I'm sure it does feel weird to date somebody so fresh out of high school while you have been a college grad (or age equivalent) for a few years. You are just in different stages of life. A 60 year old and a 40 year old also meet the half plus 7 rule, so more power to them, but it doesn't mean they are at the same place in life so it just decreases the chances of it being a good fit.
Everyone ages different. You'll find a shit load of 21 year olds who aren't on the same maturity as an 18 year old. It's how they develop as people tbh.

once i turned 25, i kind of made readjustments to that rule. mainly because i didnt want to go out with any one would couldnt legally drink. certainly not a deal breaker, but its not a path i wanted to venture.

Depends what's more important to you. If you're okay with basically leading her on while just hanging out and plowing then keep doing that. If you legitimately see no possibility for you guys to end up staying together and you feel bad about it, then that's another route.

Since you morally feel as if you're both headed in two different directions, sit down with her and inform her the position you're in and confirm with her on the position she's in. 31 is still very young to be dating, until someone reaches I'd say, 34-35 is when the person you're dating will eventually be the person you're marrying. The economy has everything to do with the older ages still dating and in the scene of enjoying their life single. No one can truly afford a partner financially, especially a wedding or children.

Sucks. Crazy that NY is at 17, figured they were at 18. The entire 18 and older thing is a universal approach society takes because you technically need to be 18 or older to do anything adult wise. I find this ridiculous because each state are hypocrites at this age rule. One state can look at another and say how gross it is to be talking or inhibit a sexual relationship with a 16 year old. Update for my ISH bros: we went to lunch yesterday and tomorrow she's agreed to go out for some wings/beer after work and then head back to my place to blaze and drink some more. Guaranteed slay.
A little problem is that I don't actually have any alcohol at home at this point. What stuff do college bitches like to drink? Buy some vodka + OJ? Beers?
