I'll thrown out some in each sport
NBA- Grant Hill? Chris Webber? This one is tough considering the bouncing around and ring chasing
NFL- Barry Sanders
NHL- Ovechkin, Hawerchuck, and Marcel Dionne
MLB- I don't know enough to make an educated guess
Soccer- Same as MLB
Who would be the greatest?

Steve Nash over Hill and Webber for NBA. 2X MVP, 0 Finals appearances. Only player in the NBA to have done that.

It's unfortunate that both Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will ever reach World Cup finals, let alone winning it, with their respective national teams.

Even though 'The game is the game' (wire qoute) - i end up feeling sorry for guys like Hill and Nash (I don't know much about Webber) because you know for a fact that they weren't there to simply collect a check, they actually played their hearts out. Both of them are stand up guys and when they were on the Suns, they were fan favorites.

Messi did? I probably lost interest in the last WC right after Germany trashed Brazil and remembered nothing after that. :D
