The Japanese urban legend game just got a major boost.

[INDENT]After Japan Tsunami, Taxi Drivers Picked Up Ghost Passengers Trying to Get Home

Whether or not you believe in ghosts, the eerily similar stories told by seven Japanese taxi drivers shortly after the devastating 2011 tsunami are enough to give anyone the shivers.

They all work in the coastal town of Ishinomaki, a prefecture in Japan where 6,000 people died in 30-foot-high waves. In the months afterward, they claim to have picked up ghost passengers, the Telegraph reported.

In all cases, the ghost passengers entered the taxi, asked to be brought their destination, and then disappeared, leaving their fare unpaid.

Their stories were discovered and collected by a college student named Yuka Kudo, 22, Japanese newspaper the Asahi Shimbun reported. She

I remember riding an elevator one time at a hospital. I went up one floor, the door opened, and a guy got in. Probably in his late 20s or so. I remember he had a hospital band on his wrist. I asked him what floor, he told me 6, which was where I was going.

The door opened I stepped off first, and as soon as I did someone got on the elevator behind me.

I thought, thats strange, cause had the other dude tried to get off on this floor, they'd have run right into each other.

I turned around to see where he was, and he was nowhere to be found.

I remember to this day it smelling like a musty, moldy closet on the ride.

What does that even mean? Ok, ghosts exist and go around taking taxis, happy?

moreso it's our classic distaste upon ambiguity that's on display.

i have no idea about what happened, exactly. in order to maintain my curiosity, i have to hold my mind open... potentially for years... potentially never to reach a resolution. that's a burden, see?

A Tsunami at that scale causes mass trauma, brain can't cope with the trauma and defense mechanisms kick in, in this case tax drivers picking up their passengers whom could be their usual ones and taking their frequent routes. Keeping an open mind means to keep your mind open to possibilities other than suggested; in this case keeping an open mind would mean being ready to accept that it might not have been ghosts as it's suggested in the article. But I guess you want to believe ghosts exist, so you choose to lash back at better reasoning.
