This may be moot now, but I thought you would like to have the answer to your question.

14 - John Drew, Atlanta at New Jersey, March 1, 1978 (first season that individual turnovers were recorded in the NBA)
14 - Jason Kidd, Phoenix vs. New York, November 17, 2000
13 - Chris Mullin, Golden State at Utah, March 31, 1988

The league does not track records for turnovers in a half or quarter, but most franchises do.

Nevertheless, you might want to know that there have been players who have turned it over nine times in a half, including LeBron, on March 28, 2005. Kobe turned it over eight times on March 26, 2010. It's not surprising that it would be in games where a player is carrying his team.

There have been players who have committed seven turnovers in a quarter. One of them is Shaq, on April 14, 2000.

The Houston Rockets franchise record for a game is 12 by Moses Malone, at the Phoenix Suns on February 6, 1981. The Rockets don't track turnovers for a half or quarter.

This last postseason James Harden set the single-game playoff record for turnovers with 12. He had another game with 9, and set the 6-game series record for turnovers. He had a playoff game with 10 turnovers in 2013. Maybe he needs to change something to cut them down a little.

No he did not. He set the Wizards franchise record with 12, though, on November 10, 2009.

Harden was pulled really early in this game. Otherwise, he might have set a league record. And the Rockets made a comeback when he wasn't in. I bet he was gassed though.

Harden's first two or three turnovers were unforced and were a result of players not anticipating the ball off of good passes. I didn't watch the game after the 1st period so I don't know what else happened in terms of how he tallied his turnovers.

Turnovers are a misleading stat unless looking at forced turnovers. Sometimes you're just playing with complete shit brained players like Dwight Howard who is the first player to complain about post touches but struggles at anticipating lob passes from James Harden for easy points.

I didn't watch. If what you say is true, some of those should be put down as team turnovers. Still, his proclivity for turnovers is alarming. Did I mention that he turns the ball over a lot? It's about as bad as Monta Ellis back in 2009, 2010. Other players who turn the ball over a lot include Westbrook, Kobe and Dwight.

His game and role is prone for turnovers. He's a high usage player, he's a great ball-handler and passer, but is prone to just losing the ball doing the simplest of moves. A lot of times the defense baits him into making the simple pass, but it ends up getting picked off because this team has no off-ball movement. Other times he'll just lose the ball going to the rim trying to draw a foul.

It's not just him. Wade, Iverson, and Westbrook have had their share of struggles with holding on to the ball for multiple seasons.

Nobody on any great offense system would tally up those types of turnovers because the ball wouldn't be stuck in their hand for 20 seconds with zero to little movement with players off-ball.

Yeah his usage is very high. But I do think he's overrated in a sense. He gets all these ticky tack foul calls and he's allowed to travel more than most. He's prolific, let's put it that way.

So you gonna keep make excuses for Harden.
It's obvious that Harden is part of the problem when he doesn't play defense and just isos
By the way how's the welfare going.

His ball handling and driving technique are the main reasons he gets foul calls, it's not like the refs even want to give him free throws. There plenty of instances of the refs swallowing their whistles on clear fouls.

Harden keeps defenders on their toes off the dribble and uses his craftiness to draw fouls on ancy defenders who like to reach. He also drives to the rim and utilizes his strength to absorb contact (whether it was initiated by Harden or the defender) and finish the play with a shot attempt. Then you have the obvious rip through plays like KD also loves.

Plenty of players travel more than Harden, the only instances I can remember Harden traveling are when he gathers for a jumpshot and may take an extra step to adjust himself. There are worse instances of players moving their pivot foot and taking more steps than allowed on a drive.

Defenders hate guarding him because he frustrates them.

Thought I should bump this. He had eight more last night.

He's turned into a good rebounder though.

He's had 13 games with eight or more turnovers in the past three years.
