As a powerful man, I'd say Eric Clapton- Tears in Heaven (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxPj3GAYYZ0).

Especially if you know the story behind the song.

Immortal Technique - dance with the devil.
Maybe not as sad as dark and brutal.

Elton John - sorry seems to be the hardest word is another obvious choice

assassin's creed revelations theme is also very very sad.

Saddest song is going to be very personal. One song that always gets me going is Thursday's 'Understanding in a Car Crash" from their Full Collapse album. It's a song about losing a friend in a car crash, which always reminds me of the friends I've lost.

River by Joni Mitchell is one of the sadder songs I know.

It's kind of a Christmas song I guess but the loneliness for some depressed people around holidays can be at the highest during the holidays.

Also, the idea of somebody feeling so low around a time where everyone around them usually appears joyful and excited is a pretty sad concept. Add in the melancholy twist to a universal Christmas melody and the soulful singing of Joni Mitchell's yearning to leave it all on ice skates and it always hit home as a particularly sad song

This song from Magnolia is laced with sadness in tone and sound but also leaves behind a glimmer of hope, so I fcks with it ahrd for that. Beautiful song that was used so excellently in a film all about the unsettling nature of the human condition. Pretty damn sad though in context
