Illegal immigrants and individuals with unclear legal status wrongly benefited from up to $750 million in ObamaCare subsidies and the government is struggling to recoup the money, according to a new Senate report obtained by Fox News.

The report, produced by Republicans on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, examined Affordable Care Act tax credits meant to defray the cost of insurance premiums. It found that as of June 2015, “the Administration awarded approximately $750 million in tax credits on behalf of individuals who were later determined to be ineligible because they failed to verify their citizenship, status as a national, or legal presence.”

When I was single more than a decade ago, I was laid off because the company went overseas and claiming unemployment insurance was a hassle, showing proof of this, proof of that etc (and this unemployment insurance is what you as a worker pay into the system, it isn't free money)...I was unemployed for about three months but it's a major pain in the ass that whole process. I've never been on government assistance but have known people who were on welfare or single moms who recieved government benefits and they have to show documents and proof of their identity before recieving a single penny...this notion that the government is throwing money to anyone that asks is complete BS :oldlol: And I know for a fact that people who are illegaly in this country, a government office is the last place they want to be at.

Oh but they'll hand out much more than that to the US military industrial complex, banks, Wall Street, Big Oil and Corporate America but the rightwingers will pretend to be against it but they really aren't since it's our tax dollars going straight to rich conservatives pockets...

I'm not arguing for illegal immigrants, but if UK2K wants to be pissed off at a group of people who are causing the most damage to America, he should look no further than to the richest of the rich. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 5 years and the majority of the illegal immigrants in the kitchen received government EBT cards and none of them ever paid for any of their visits to the hospital (ie for the birth of their children.) Granted my experience is anecdotal and the aid was more likely due to the state government but the notion that illegal immigrants do not receive government aid and are not a drain on government resources is simply not true. Now as to whether their is a net benefit of illegal immigration is another story.

But yes the rich of the rich as you put it are an issue, and guess what, majority of them are pro illegal immigration because they are not living in their neighborhoods and live in their gated neighborhoods and send their children to private schools where illegal immigrants do not attend and these same rich would would prefer to hire them over natives.

PS: I'm not against immigration and I understand the plight of illegal immigrants since I am an immigrant myself but I think a country has a right to enforce their borders.

Tax contributions from illegal immigrants ranged from less than $3.2 million in Montana with an estimated undocumented population of 6,000 to more than $3.2 billion in California with more than 3.1 million illegal immigrants, according to the study.

“The numbers alone make a compelling case for reform,” said Matthew Gardner, executive director of ITEP. “This analysis shows that undocumented immigrants already are paying billions in taxes to state and local governments, and if they are allowed to work in the country legally, their state and local tax contributions would considerably increase.”

I have read this study in the past and the majority of the tax counted is "sales and local" tax and legal workers would pay similar tax if not more.

I don't know the numbers off hand but I would bet the costs related to of health-care, education, social welfare programs, etc trump (pun intended) those tax revenues.

"Californians bear an enormous fiscal burden as a result of an illegal alien population estimated at almost 3 million residents. The annual expenditure of state and local tax dollars on services for that population is $25.3 billion. That total amounts to a yearly burden of about $2,370 for a household headed by a U.S. citizen."
