Immediately after the draft, Bryant expressed that he did not wish to play for the Hornets and wanted to play for the Lakers instead. Fifteen days later, West traded his starting center, Vlade Divac to the Hornets for the young Kobe Bryant.

Do you think he would a better Individual Career?

Do you think he would have more NBA MVP, more scoring titles, and less championship?

the hornets were a playoff level team, with some nice all star talent in the early 00s w/o Kobe.. and of course theyd get to play in east playoffs, where Jkidd's Nets and Detroit were the only problems.. Spurs in the Finals ??

Holy shit, I just realized Kobe's career would be better had he went to that scrub franchise. Just two rings there probably eclipses what he did with LA because all this "carrying" nonsense, even if the performances were the same.

We'd have videos of Kobe raping 50 year old MJ on 1v1's on youtube by now :(

Kobe couldn't do much with Caron Butler and Lamar Odom.

I doubt he'd do much with Anthony Mason and Glen Rice. Certainly not for his first four years at least, in which he was not a super-star by any means.

Of course, if they had Kobe and no Divac, everything would change and maybe they would end up with a good draft pick the following year. Or they woulda traded for another center. Who knows.

Let's say he'd end up with 1-2 rings and would be looked at similarly as Wade.

He would've been the original 2/6, be married to Kate Faber, would not have gotten multiple career-threatening injuries, and would now be leading the Hornets into the playoffs as a #3 seed, ending his last year 2/7.

He'll have more MVP's, And probably 2 NBA titles. A young back court of Baron Davis, and Kobe Bryant are capable of winning some games in the regular season.

But they need some big man in order for them to win an NBA title. Maybe they draft Pau Gasol in 2001, or, Okafor/Howard in 2004.

He might have won one championship at most without Shaq and the Lakers organization.

depends where he goes after some "disappointing" years in charlotte or which other great player will join him in charlotte.

but you have to take into consideration, that he would have played in pretty weak east of the 00s...

His career would be similar to Iverson's. More accolades probably no title he would complain his way out of that franchise and join a contender. He threatened to do it to the Lakers at one point.

Before the draft even happened, Kobe expressed he wanted to play for the Lakers. New Jersey Nets were going to take him 8th overall, but they were told by Kobe camp that he wouldn't sign with them.

He manipulated the draft and wanted no part of trying to build a championship team.

He'd get 0 rings, Stern wasn't gonna back him up.

He would be more respectable though, as there won't be bandwagoning Asians on his coattails like Jabbar.
