Wilt was known for his remarkable strength, or so I'm told, and his ability to fight various animals, but one thing that rarely gets discussed is why he was never pulled up on his steroid use?

So blatantly obvious having a guy go up in weight so quickly, known to hang out with bodybuilders, and especially hanging out with Arnie so much on the set of movies they were filming.

Was it simply let go due to Wilt not being as dominant as was actually claimed? He didn't really win much, and only put up stats due to the teams he played on playing an almost gimmicky style of basketball to help inflate his stats. So in hindsight was it just simply allowed to slide since better players at the time were winning the titles and winning MVP's while not playing a gimmicky style of ball?

Don't know if you're being serious, or trolling, but its definitely plausible.

The 70s were steroid heaven. Weren't the Pittsburgh Steelers admittedly all on performance enhancers?

Wilt is 17 in one picture, 50 in the other.

33 years of lifting weights without steroids and the physiological transition from boyhood to manhood can get that result yes :oldlol:

Anyways, why not try being a little bit more serious about this instead of trolling and use pics of him and dates/ages that are actually relevant.

The years you're looking for are 1958, to 1963. In that time frame specifically, it can be surmised that Wilt was at his full grown adult height and his weights are cited and known to be from about 240lbs to a peak of 320lbs (which is fat, that later shed down to 292). An increase of 80lbs. Or for lean muscle an increase of 52lbs. Or an increase in mass of like, 25%, or in lean mass 18% in 5 years.

So, in the late 1950's how many steroids existed to your typical athlete? Because that's when the rapid gain started. And is 18% lean mass or 25% total mass in 6 years a very suspect number? Wilt was 258lbs late in 1959 right before the 1960 season - so we even have a middle point.

You can suspect steroids if you'd like, that's on you. To me, I'm not convinced they were widely available to athletes in the late 1950's. The late 70's and especially the 80's and 90's was the steroid boom. Not the late 1950's.

Steroids didn't come to the NBA until the 80's

Wilt didn't use the sauce during his playing career, clearly. But he did gear up in his post retirement volleyball and movie career no doubt.

3 guys well known for checking their stats at the scorers table. Wilt, then MJ, and then Lebron. :applause:

Yeah it's pretty funny just looking at the body types of basketball players through the years. You can almost pinpoint the years that PED use exploded in the NBA. Players used to have more lean body types (and the modern NBA w/ testing has gone back to that) but around like 89-93 guys all of a sudden showed up looking like they had been training for the Mr. Universe competition. I blame the Bad Boys- that overly physical style forced players to look for advantages to overcome it.

Compare guys like Malone and Robinson's bodies from the 80s to the 90s.

The 90's is the Steroid era

They literally didn't start testing until 1999
