If Memphis misses the playoffs and doesn't get a top 6 pick their pick goes to Denver, so I think they'll try to compete with what they've got

Memphis doesn't have any young guys like that. They really have no moves they can make to stay in contention. It's a tough spot to be in, but that's kind of what they get for buying into this current group. They never made the move they needed/played together in some of the most loaded conference groups in the last twenty years
