I thought this was interesting so I thought I would post here so the kiddies could freak out. I doubt anyone over 12 has a chance to join in but hopefully I'm wrong.
So one of the weird arguments in the Kobe vs Duncan debate is that Duncan had the better team and coaches over his career. This is only odd because the lakers are by most measures the most successful franchise in nba history and for 11 of Kobe's years he had perhaps the most successful and awarded coach ever....honestly maybe in all sports?
That lead me to the question just regular season vs regular season what was Kobe's record with Jackson and how does it compare to Duncan's entire career? Well I checked it on basketball reference and here is what I got.
Kobe 568-269 67.86% win percentage (amazing number btw)
Duncan 982-386 71.78% win percentage
When Kobe has by most measure the GOAT coach, he doesn't win at the same rate as Duncan.
Edit
These are just numbers, so again I'm not stating this as a fact that one is better than another. I'll gladly go there, but this was just for information purposes. Rarely do I see this quoted so I thought it might be a value add.
