LeBron just passed Pierce tonight for 18th on the all time scoring list (NBA/ABA).

He's only 7k points away from Kobe, so I think he'll be top 3 by the end of his career. Any chance he catches Malone or Kareem?

I bet you he catches Malone, however Kareem is too far gone for anyone to catch, especially in his day and age when players are weak and miss games for rest or minor injuries that wouldn't keep players out in the past

To get Kareem he needs 12000 points.
12000/6 = 2000
2000 points per year for 6 years.
27 ppg in 74 games average in 6 years

age 31 - 32, 32 - 33, 33 - 34, 34 - 35, 35 - 36, 36 - 37..

Some of you may know I am a huge Pacers fan and also a fan of the Cavaliers as well. LeBron has been one of the fastest players to reach 25 thousand points but it has come at the toll of wear and tear on his body. LeBron does not have much of a mid range game so he has to barrel into the lane and drive off picks to get most of his points. 10 plus years of this style of basketball and LeBron's athleticism has been declining rapidly. I really wish he could reach higher on the all time scoring list considering LeBron's enthusiasm for stats. We know LeBron likes stats and it would be great to help cover up for some of the embarrassing playoff losses in his career. We will just have to wait and see.

Hmmmm....

If he plays until 40 (yeah this is a stretch I know) he'll have ~8 more seasons + the rest of this season which is good for ~650 more points.

(12000-650)/8 = 1418

~20PPG for the next 8 years.

Or basically 25PPG for the next 4 years + 15PPG for the 4 years after.

:lol :lol

****ing Kareem lol.... this shit is near impossible.

Given that Lebron is a pass first players it's incredible that he already has 26 k points.
Would be remarkable if he ends up with 30000.

If refs keep ignoring his stiff arm maybe top 3, if not top 15.

He has a great shot at number 2.

Top 3 at least. Possibly 1. I could easily see him make it a point to stick around long enough to get that record. Good chance he also ends up top 5 in assists.

I see him at number three when all is said and done.

Top 2-3 definitely at the very very least (unless he gets a career ending injury or something), he is on the greatest pace in NBA history, so much so he can afford to average like 15 ppg or something from now on until he retires and still end up top there.... #1 is possible aswell depending on how long he plays / what he averages...

..and again lets keep in mind that he isnt a pure scorer, i mean he never was a score-first guy... he could have, shattering Kareems record, at the expense of assists... speaking of assists it seems he will end up top 10 & higher there aswell, he will be the 1st non-PG in NBA history to be there, actually he is that already at top 20 right now, everybody above him and even 7 spots under him are/were all point-guards...

I dont think there ever was a player in NBA history who was top 10 in both assists & points? That could pretty much end up to be one of those unbeatable feats forever after... unless a guy who averages 28-30 ppg & 8-10 apg for his 16-19 year career comes along, which is very unlikely imo....

Most likely #3.

He will have ~27k points by the end of the season.

#3 is Kobe with ~33.5k
#2 is Malone with ~37k
#1 is Kareem with ~38.5k

So Lebron would need another 6.5k to pass Kobe for #3, which seems quite doable, if he plays another 5-6 years as expected.

To reach Malone he would need another 10k, which would require either 6 seasons with no significant injuries, or 7-8 years including some injuries and gradual decline

To reach Kareem he would need another 11.5k, which would require either 7-8 years with no significant injuries, or 8-10 years including some injuries and gradual decline

Depends. He may transition to more of a facilitator/post presence in his mid-30's, maybe his scoring level drops. Already it's gone from 27-28 in Miami to 25 in Cleveland. He doesn't have a consistent jumpshot to carry his offensive game like it did 2nd three-peat Jordan or Kobe once the athleticism really declines. Will he work on improving his post play? Not sure how much longer he plays either. I think he'll wind up 4th, I don't think he'll pass Kobe but he'll likely pass by MJ health permitting.

I'm surprised no one projects him to pass Kareem. It's not exactly unfeasible. He's within 11k already and he's only 31.

There have been several.

Oscar Robertson
Wilt Chamberlain
Jerry West
John Havlicek

That was when the league was still relatively new, though, so it was much easier to attain.

He has no Jumpshot can barley shoot fts, and his go to move is to drive and hope to get the contact.

#3 as Kyrie is entering his prime next year and the next four years will likely feature him. Three years ago I thought Lebron was likely to do it as his game could morph into a Malone type game but Malone was almost always the primary scorer. Lebron got other scorers on his team.

Man just recently lost his jumper a few years ago

This man not strong. Gonna lose his his ability to shoot overall soon if he don't recover

Malone had post moves though and had decent footwork. Also Malone didn't care about dominating in every statline.

He would be a 10 ppg guy without it :lol

None of those players are top 10 in both total points AND total assists.... I don't think so at least, maybe Oscar?
