It took some time, first it was Thibedou and his new sag-swarm defense which is now standard. That kind of defense was successful in winning for a while, until teams like Mavs and Heat introduced fast paced swing the ball offense from a high pick and roll, perfected with almost selfless high IQ players with Spurs.

This formula, by a Pop prodigee in Kerr, has now been perfected in GSW, here we have the final form of the current rules of the game. Fast paced, swing the ball, equal opportunity selfless team ball.

That method is simply the best and now ONLY way to win with the current rules in the NBA.

Spurs are an OLD team and can only win because of their style of play (and Duncan D of course), but GSW will continue to beatdown all other teams until they adapt.

GONE are the days of stacking teams with dumbass talented athletic guys - looking at you Thunder - but even a strong D team is not enough anymore, look at Bulls or Memphis, simply put, if you don't have a fast paced high IQ offense.

It's ironic because the 00s were the Golden Age of the low iq ball dominant chucker. When GSW or Spurs win again the next two seasons, it will be clear for all to see. The return of investment on the typical selfish low IQ athletic wing player is simply too low, when you can win at a much higher rate with high IQ selfless players.

It is no co-incidence that Steph Curry played 3 years of college ball, Duncan played 4 years of college ball.

In 5 years, if the rules are the same, teams will once again begin drafting based on maturity, IQ and teammate ability.

Goodbye Melo, Westbrook, Lillard, Butler and all of your kind. You're obsolete.

Yeah well, I even like Butler - him being MJs illegimate son and all - but he really needs to learn to play within a system.

ive been saying this since buds first year with ATL. what we saw from him and the two teams you mentioned, is just GOOD STYSTEM basketball. No real offensive flaws, as long as the team buys in. and just pay as much attention to defense as you do to perfecting your offense, and your team is good to go

that was MDA's biggest problem. had a GREAT offensive system, but didnt care for defense

The premise for your "theory" just doesn't add up. You have a bunch of players that played in college yet still doesn't have fundamentals.

I mean.... if the next 9 out of the next 10 championships are won by players that played 3+ years in college.... then you might have a point. 2 years is FAR too small of a sample size.

Tons of players that spend 3+ years in college end up failing in the NBA.... we just gonna ignore all those?

Who?

You don't seem to understand statistics.

With the current system, very few high profile guys stay in college, so only those lesser prospects stay in college, which then influences their careers.

Even so, look at a guy like Larry Nance Jr, he isn't supremely skilled but he is very solid, he plays with a great deal of maturity and he can actually hit the mid range jumper. Larry Nance Jr shows exactly how much more ready a 3-4 years of college player is than a much bigger talent in D'Angelo Russel who is one and done.

Time to get rid of the defensive 3-sec rule and bring back hand-checking.

Yep, but do you see what is the result of that?

That you do not need 2-3 superstars and stacked teams, you only really need ONE superstar and then you can add solid high IQ teammates around them.

Atlanta is ONE superstar away from Eastern Conference finals.

That will be a much better proposition for franchise owners than overpaying a bunch of drama queen iso players with max contracts.

Morrison, Jimmer just to name a few.

You do realize there are also players that spend 1-2 years in college and end up being great too right....?

I mean... I could've made the same thread two years ago when the 4 of the last five Championships were won by LeBron and Kobe, and claimed we should draft more kids from high school.

So you're saying GM should pass up guys like LeBron... to draft guys that stayed 3-4 years in college..? Yeah good luck w/ that bud.

Agree, thats why I think Spurs have the only chance to beat GSW. The problem for the Spurs is, is that the Warriors are like the Spurs on roids. They execute similar actions, however its with blinding speed and creativity.

Good now you force teams to play D, and show more effort or risk getting blown out by the 3rd Q. Fun to watch.
