Kind of saw this one coming, although I don't think it will happen for Sheed and Tay. Here is the thing.

Ben Wallace was the defensive anchor on the greatest defensive team of all time. Multiple Allstar starter, 4 time DPOY.

Billups has a finals MVP.

Rip is the franchise all time leading playoff scorer.

Sheed, while he was great is just the piece that put the team over the top.

Tay had one crucial block in the playoffs and was a solid defender and other than that he was just a role player his entire career.

Aren't Ben Wallace and Billups already retired? If not, they should be locks. Wow, they're not. Why would they retire Hamilton's before Ben Wallace's and Billups?

Yeah they just retired Chauncey's Wednesday night and Ben Wallace a couple weeks back.

They should have averaged all five of their jersey numbers together, and retired that number with all their names on the jersey.

The Pistons should also retire Kobe's #8. He did help them out in the series as well.

One of the other things about Rasheed Wallace is his relatively short stay in Detroit — five and a half years of mostly post-prime Sheed (he was 34 by his last year.

Of course, that's not to say he didn't have a huge impact on the championship team and beyond. But while Billups has the MVP, Ben has the "heart & soul" card (along with 4 DPOYs), and Rip is the all-time Pistons playoff scoring leader, Rasheed might be lacking the "it" factor that people can point to when it comes to justifying the retirement.

As for Tayshaun, I'm with you there too. I think his only chance would be the longevity card combined with the Reggie block reference (like a lighter version of Vinnie Johnson, though Vinnie had numerous big playoff moments beyond the Blazers game-winner). But I don't know if that's going to work out for Tayshaun.

Damn man, they screwing my man Sheed. Smh, he was easily the 2nd (arguably best) player on that championship team, give him some respect.

One of my favorite teams of all time, even if they beat the Lakers in 04. Great group of guys, hard nose players :applause:
