Iverson a legend. He took his team on a hell of a championship run. Battled Vince Carter's Raptors and Ray Allen's Bucks. That Bucks and Sixers ECF was one for the ages. Meanwhile Shaq and the Lakers were running through the West. Was rooting for him but I already knew how the finals would end.

yeah people never understand just how amazing iverson was

a 5'10 dude single handedly taking a scrub team to the finals...like really? Considering the prevalent perception that basketball is only a tall mans game it is staggering. Its also why I think its stupid people expect chris paul to have had more success than he has had. Yeah he is amazing, but at the end of the day he is only 5'10 too, in those crunch moments, when people are really putting the clamps on you, those extra few inches would really help, which again reinforces how amazing iverson was.

Still impressive when you consider the other starters were Eric Snow, George Lynch, and Tyrone Hill

Deke was all defense. Couldn't give you much on offense. Not a scrub at all. So that's wrong.

He was one of the best defensive players of his era, numbnuts. And let's not pretend that the Eastern conference was loaded back then because it definitely wasn't.

His opinion doesn't matter.

Allen Iverson is either hella underrated or hella overrated. Probably because he was just such a polarizing figure as a person.

For a guy of his size and stature to be the scoring machine he was is pretty incredible. Dude could ball. But his finals run is definitely overrated. The east was a complete joke. From MJ's retirement all the way to Lebron in Miami, the only legit teams from the east were Detroit, Miami, and Boston.

Also Philly built pretty much the team you should build around Iverson. Could they have been better? Yeah. But they got all the defensive minded guys they could find, and just let Iverson do what he do. Which was jack up shots and score like a mofo.

You're right here. Every single one of those guys around AI was a beast defensively.

I'm glad somebody mentioned this. While arguable his most successful team, he had better all around talent on other teams, they just didn't fit his game. It's not like you can put another scorer with him and they coexist.

Iverson scored primarily on isolation. Not p&rolls, no off ball movements. Really hard to get someone to play 2nd banana to that.

Interesting point, Raja Bell was part of that playoff run, and he somehow ushered in the 3 & D position. If the 76ers only had more 3&d players then maybe they would be more potent. Further, if Iverson played in today's rules, he'd be higher up on everyone's list

The only people that don't understand how amazing AI was are brain dead sheep.
