Without a doubt the best final round ever atleast, that's for sure and I don't even think it's a debate.

Started out like shit too. Dudes dancing, prancing around in tuxedos. I was like 'f*ck :facepalm '

But then AG and Lavine took light-skinned nigguhs to unbefore seen heights.

Of course, because sh*t evolves.

But relative to the time, Carter was so much better than everyone else in the entire league that it was incredible to watch.

I would argue these two are so much better than everyone else in the entire league right now as well..it's just that there happens to be two on that level instead of just one. Seriously, no one touches these two right now. People will say Wiggins but there's no way he has this type of stuff. Dude straight up pussed out knowing what Zach had.

And having two on that god tier going at it >>>> one just showcasing it with zero competition.

Kill yourself. Under both legs over a mascot, double pump reverse, 360 scoop hand behind the head picking it up from a spinning mascot...Vince isn't touching that shit.

Elbow in the rim LMAO. It was special at the time but Lavine and Gordon could do that shit half asleep and on acid. Vince was doing a regular ass two handed FT line, Lavine was throwing windmills from there and between the legs just a babystep in front.

I knew Gordon would make it interesting. Moe was hyping him for the longest time. Was skeptical last year but he's grown on me since then. I never thought he had some of this shit though. That under both legs over the mascot is seriously the most insane dunk I've ever seen in an NBA contest.

He is more effeminate than Blake, there's nothing wrong with that. He is much more likeable than Blake. Big fan of him after tonight.

It seems like every year they say "the dunk contest is back". Well this year it's actually true. That was pretty amazing stuff. The bar has been raised.

The problem from now on though is that Lavine and Gordon have raised the roof way too high for NBA-level players to match it in the future. Those dunks are usually reserved from dunk specialists out there.

Kinda like what happened 5 years after that Vince Carter's roof raising night.

Best dunk showdown by far!!! What's make it so impressive was that both Gordon and LaVine did their dunks on one try. Though LaVine won, major props to Aaron Gordon. He put up a show that many surely didn't expect.

Gordon and Lavine did dunks you'd see from YouTube dunkers. Nothing they did were new or out the box.

Neither of those guys have the electrifying presence that Vince Carter had in 2000, or even what Dwight in the late 2000s. AG or Lavine don't make you feel special watching them dunk, you could watch a High School All-American contest and have the same feeling.

I'd take a great dunk by a superstar over a great dunk from some role players/bench players. Harold Miner aka Baby Jordan says hi.

You can't be the GOAT Dunk Contest if nobody is even anticipating watching it. There was zero hype behind this contest, it started off full of cringe and ended with some good dunks.

We've seen every dunk possible be done on YouTube. Guys are having to use props and mascots nowadays just to seem different, where as before superstars would have the building in their hands from start to finish.

With the Vince Carter and Dwight Howard's of the world, they had the absolute best players in the league lining up to watch them compete. Shaq, Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Kidd, Garnett. The atmosphere was unbeatable, looking back at it their dunks aren't as creative as ones today because they've been done over a thousand times but so has every other dunk you see today.

If the dunk contest is just going to be a bunch of role players who barely/never get National TV time in the regular reason then it's taking a step in the wrong direction. Nobody is busting their ass to watch that.

If the dunk contest is just going to be a bunch of role players who barely/never get National TV time in the regular reason then it's taking a step in the wrong direction. Nobody is busting their ass to watch that.

The problem is there aren't many (if any) stars that are the caliber dunkers of Lavine or Gordon. Ideally the contest would feature a combination of great star power and dunking ability, but that combination is becoming more rare. Back in the day, stars were often the best dunkers. That's not the case anymore.

If the dunk contest featured big name players who could only do average dunks, it would be criticized. Do you see what I'm saying? It's kind of a no-win situation. People will either complain about the lack of star power or the lack of dunking quality.
