View Full Version : Is Towns truly the next transcendent Big Man?

Based on what we're seeing so early in his career it appears that Towns will inevitably be one of the top 5 players in the league and perhaps the most dominant big man of his generation. Dwight Howard never really developed his post game and never became that dominant scorer. Yao had a stretch where it looked like he could be a truly dominant big man but that was short lived because of unfortunate injuries. Towns looks like he could be the true heir to Shaq. He'll never be as physically imposing but he could be a truly dominant force for years.

He also has an advantage cause he's such a good free throw shooter for a guy his height. Can't wait to see duels between him and Davis in the future. It'll be KG vs Duncan all over again.

I envision him having some huge scoring years because of his already developed post moves, his range and as you said he is a terrific free throw shooter.

AD is better.

not in a wheelchair, he needs to stop with this bulking up nonsense, his body is not taking it well.

KAT is so much more athletic than I first anticipated. He moves with such fluidity and is ultra explosive. I see him being a 25/10 guy by season number 3...

Anthony Davis was also getting the same Love last year. Call me when they lead their team deeper into the post season.

Nothing I've seen from him makes me think otherwise. I've been saying it since his junior year of HS. He's the best big man prospect since Duncan.

If he stays injury free and wont let the fame get into his head, and continue work hard on his game, he just might become a perennial MVP. He is that good.

Well rebound wise he already is a double double guy but with 2 or 3 other scorers on team 25 may be tough however I can easily see 22,12,3,3 by year 3

He needs to become stronger and more powerful to really exploit the fact that he is such a great FT shooter.

I can't imagine how much someone like Drummond would dominate with KAT's skill set.

Karl-Anthony Towns' shot chart this season (L) and Anthony Davis' shot chart in his rookie season (R). Pretty crazy:

Towns as a rookie is so much more impressive than AD was.

He's got the skills but I've yet to see the impact. He has a talented team around him but they ain't sniffing the playoffs. If he can make his teammates better then he's the transcendent big man.

KAT, Zinger, Jokic/Nurkic, Myles Turner, AD, lot of good young big men. It's a fun time to be an NBA fan.
