Amazing video and I've never seen people play chess like that. Is it the norm for chess players to play so fast? That was amazing.

Also, I love the guy tried to cheat with the sleigh of hands. Street tactics.:lol

Good video.

Good video.

Experienced chess players see three or four moves in advance in anticipation of what their opponent may do. So yeah, playing chess this fast is pretty common among those with a lot of experience.

That was a pretty shitty move trying to cheat like that, but I'm more impressed that Ashley knew exactly where every piece was prior to that.

Speed chess is the way you play in the park. These guys play for money and don't want to see around all day on a $5 or $10 bet.

The speed and the trash talk create what they call cognitive load. You literally can't think straight.

If you notice the clock, each player has their own clock, in the park you have five minutes total to make all your moves.

Anyone else have chess w/friends app on their phone?

I play chess everyday...it's a healthy mental exercise

although it's more like 4-5 moves a day in spare time...not the speed shown here

My mental exercise is sadly Sudoku.

I destroy it though.

Whatever mental gains you believe you are obtaining through chess, they are negated by your time spent on ISH.
