I was watching a game before the All-Star break and Terry Stotts was talking about how its fun to coach this team because everyone follows Lillards lead, and they follow his enthusiasm and passion for winning.

If it's true, then as GM it should be easy to build a team around him if he's such a dynamic leader. Is this guy good enough to lead a team better than a Chris Paul or Steve Nash? Is he just another piece like a Chauncey Billups or can he take a team to th next level?

I want to see this kid with his own Championship level team. With Aldridge he had to share the spotlight and couldn't really be himself. What do you guys think he's capable of?

Lillard always been one of my favorite players, good guy, and clutch af from what I have seen

I agree I would like to see him have his own championship level team, Blazers have been really surprising this season too

I could see Lillard being an unselfish point guard making big shots for a championship level team. Like a better version of Chauncey Billups. The Blazers have good guards to build around. They need an athletic big to block shots and rebound, and a post up power forward to score 15-18 a game. They could make some noise if they make some good moves.

One of my favorite players :applause:

Averaging 24/4/7 and leading Portland into the playoffs after they blew it all up

great offensive player
great shooter, but not at the level of the Splash Bros.
still a terrible defender

I'd also like to take away the notion that the Blazers decided to blow the roster up with the intention of tanking the next few seasons.

Wesley Matthews was allowed to walk because of the Blazers not wanting to pay big money for a player coming off an ACL injury, and the fact that they had a gem like McCollum waiting to get some minutes.

Nicolas Batum was traded not with the intention of tanking (https://twitter.com/WojVerticalNBA/status/613849132596363265?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) this season, but the fact that the package of a veteran wing in Gerald Henderson and a young PF like Noah Vonleh was too hard to decline for a player like Batum who is expiring this year.

Lamarcus Aldridge left on his own and in response the Blazers retooled the team around Damien Lillard. This team was built to be competitive, not to tank. It doesn't make sense to have a Top 20 player/All-Star and decide that you'd ever want to tank. The Blazers always wanted to stay competitive from the jump and they're doing it right now.

I haven't really heard people say Blazers were suppose to be tanking or what not, I think is more so the fact it is surprising the Blazers are doing what they are doing with who they got

Doubt they thought they could tank with Cj and Damian. Last year in the playoffs CJ really shined. They knew what they had.

It's more of a rebuild. They picked up half a dozen athletic, hungry, young hustle players. They're establishing a winning culture. Hopefully it works out for them better than tanking would.

Around 7-10 range of PGs. You gotta take into account that Team USA really doesn't like him and the NBA coaches who choose All star reserves dislike him as well.

I was wrong about Lillard. He is pretty good.

Kobe took his all-star spot this year. I think he'll get it next year.

This made me giggle.

Lillard is the only starter from last year's team on the roster. They lost all 4 of their other starters. The Blazers were expected to be crap this year. They are in the playoffs as of right now.

Lillard is amazing. A top 5 pg without question

As far as PGs, I have Curry, Westbrook, CP3 and Wall over him. Kyrie a little behind.
He's doing a great job this season taking this depleted Blazers team to the post season

Only point guard I rank over him are Curry and Westbrook. I wouldn't trade Lillard for Westbrook though. Westbrook is a cancer. Getting more individual points does not mean his impact is greater.

He's that Tim Hardaway impact player. Won't be the best PG in that season, but he's a player.

Wall sucks.

I have Lillard on par with Westbrook and behind Curry.

D Lillard IS A BEAST!! But the THING is u got Curry, Westbrook, and Paul in this era. In my opinion, Curry, Westbrook, and Paul are three of the top seven PG's of all time peak-best player wise. So Lillard is competing in the Golden Era of PG's.

Lillard, like Curry and Russ, are score first PG's who can ALSO be great floor generals. But for that style of PG, I have Lillard a bit behind those two. But in the grand scheme of things, I think Lillard is a top 5 PG in the world. And peak-best player wise, is a top 15 caliber PG of all time. With ROOM TO GROW!!
