Washington (CNN)How's this for an eye-popping image? Bernie Sanders as a woman.
In a town hall meeting in Las Vegas, the Vermont senator seemed to be running out of patience with the notion that he doesn't walk the walk on issues important to female voters as he battles Hillary Clinton, who punched 18 million cracks in America's highest glass ceiling in her 2008 campaign, for this year's Democratic nomination.
"I consider myself a strong feminist," Sanders said at the event, televised by MSNBC. "In fact, Gloria Steinem -- everybody knows Gloria as one of the leading feminists in America -- made me (an) honorary woman many, many years ago. I don't know exactly what that meant but I accepted it when she came to campaign for me."
