[QUOTE=Anderson Varejao]"Dear Cavs Fans Everywhere,

For the last 12 years, I have had the honor of representing the city of Cleveland and the Cavaliers organization, and for that I will forever be grateful. Coming over from Spain at the young age of 21 was a difficult transition, but as soon as I put on a Cavs jersey and stepped on the court, I felt at home.

There were seasons we played well together, and there were seasons we struggled together. We had playoff runs, and we had championship runs. Over the last 12 seasons we have had many ups and downs, but no matter the product on the court one thing never changed

Against all odds and despite being on some bad teams, Andy has become a beloved figure in Cleveland. His letter pretty much shows why.

So classy... can't wait to get him back, probably as an assistant coach.

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to ask your opinion on this whole Rich Paul fiasco and exploiting franchises for the benefit of their clients etc. is this something that the league is going to be trending towards? I sure hope not.

Literally the beginning of the letter said "dear cavs fans everywhere". Why would he mention lebron in a thank you letter to the fans?

Some of you need to get lebron off the mind for 2 seconds.

Lebron living rent free inside this man's head. Off topic. VC should have stayed with the Toronto Raptors. He was better than Kobe in the 2000 NBA Season.

Both Jamison and Walker were only 27 years old when they joined Dallas. And Walker was a former all star with the Celtics.

Mavs have always been a good team while Dirk has been save for maybe 1 or 2 seasons.

Who ever was behind this trade ...smdh. Andy wanted and deserved to be a career Cavalier.
I understand the sentiment, but don't you want your team to be better? Why do you want a $10M roster spot going to waste?

lets look at pre 2005

2003 they went to the WCF and lost to the SPurs. Dirk injured, would have been at least a 7 games series with Dirk. The winner wins it all against the nets.

2004 playoffs: Dirk had 27.5 PER (MVP level), Nash had 15.5 (average) adn Finley had 10 (role player)

Nash and Finley shot 38% from the field. Finley shot 25 % from three. Antoine Walker shot his usual 36% from the floor

Marquis Daniels was the second best mavs player that series

...yeah and they are also two of the most overrated forwards of all time. I'm not sure how someone who is a Lebron stan can build up these two bitches. (unless it's to somehow make Lebron look really good by saying he dominated thsee two underwhelming clowns)

Thats not loyalty... thats satisfaction, especially in even higher magnitude players who stay with one team entire career (Jordan, Magic, Kobe etc.), especially when they are in their prime that satisfaction is extremly vital to be met or else they will eventually seek it elsewhere.... Satisfaction? Yes, money and/or supporting cast and/or other things that makes you happy enough to stay / achieve your goal (which most often is to win a championship)...

There is "loyalty" in the sense of where once home is/where a player would want to play the rest of his life/where a player would want to have that satisfaction i speak of.... but that satisfaction is a priority, for every player... a player of Varejaos magnitude that satisfaction is much smaller than somebody like say Lebron... Lebron has the money covered, he cares only about winning championships (with other words, a supporting cast), less of an importance at this point in his career which is why he was able to come back home and be "loyal" again.... Varejao just wants money/to make a living and would prefered to have that in Cleveland, but since that cant be met there, voila.... if he really was loyal he could have turned that situation down and retire.... but at the end of the day the satisfaction is a priority & hence it all is business... not loyalty....

There is only one player in NBA history i ever saw the closest thing to something being loyalty, Reggie Miller... he played with scrubs, never complained, never demanded anything and had multiple offers all the time throughout his career to go chase better accolades (rings), even when he was about to retire (Celtics) and even after he retired (still Celtics).... his loyalty was truly tested throughout ~20 years of ANY situation... even by his own fanbase who didnt even want him there in the first place and who even burned his house down around 96'.... But even Reggie, had simply met his satisfaction in Indiana...

That being said , Portland has mentioned they would release him.
Would it not make sense for the Spurs to pick him out and complete the title hope :confusedshrug:

My disdain for Rich Paul has reached a level to where I'm no longer comfortable with it. I just can't stand the guy. He should be happy he has any relevancy in any way, shape or form in the NBA. Most agents are lawyers or -- in certain cases -- ex-players who worked their butts off all of their lives studying the ins and outs of the game, how contract negotiations work, how to give-and-take depending on the situation, etc.

Rich Paul is LeBron's friend. He hit the neighborhood lottery by growing up near one of the greatest natural athletes to ever live and, as a result, teams in the NBA are forced to deal with this idiot. And, his "negotiations" seem to consist of "give my guy the max or f#ck off." In the Cavs' situation, he has LeBron to hold over the organization's head.

That Tristan Thompson ordeal sealed the deal. I didn't like him before that, but now... I'd be happy if we never signed another Rich Paul player again, regardless of how good they may be.

Kinda messed that LeBron often called Andy his friend and then turns around and trades him for a mediocre player who has no role on this team unless Love gets hurt.

Nah. I get the sentiment, but he simply wasn't a good enough player to have his number retired.

You never know, sometimes jersey retirement goes beyond the numbers. For example, I expect Udonis Halsem to have his jersey retired by the Heat and he has similar career numbers to Varejao. He's been a great locker room presence, leader, and pillar of the community. Then again he's also the Heat's all-time rebounding leader and had been a part of 3 championships.

I'm not saying Verejao will have his jersey retired, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.

Thank you for mentioning it. The obsession/hatred/love for LBJ is....odd. I just don't get it. Do you people that hate him so much have wives? Lives? Jobs? Hobbies? It's so odd.

Andy and LeBron have a friendship that NONE of you could ever imagine having, yet this amazing letter becomes about LeBron. Get a life.
