After a mere four points in the first half, Duncan goes berserk in the second, completely taking over the game in the 4th quarter. He finished with 32 points (28 in the second half), and 10 rebounds, shooting 57%, leading the Spurs to the W. The Spurs would eventually upset Kidd's Suns in four quick games. Kevin Harlan at his best as well. ''Duncan on the glass! Duncan on the offensive end!''

Robinson had a slightly better statistical game but Duncan scored 28 of his 32 pts in the 2nd half and took over.
They both played great.

That's the difference with Duncan and Kobe. If this was Kobe then we would have heard of this game hundreds of times. But with Duncan, he doesn't attract the same kind of fans that really worship him.

the complete dread the fans had by the 3 min mark of him getting that ball from the low post.

Wait...how exactly was it an upset when both teams had the same record and the spurs had two 20/10+ stars who played great defense? Upset...lmfao.

This is beatiful and sad to see at the same time, Tim is literally the last TRUE dominant post player to enter the NBA and that was 1997!!! Six years before the zone rule changes came into effect for all the ignorant people claiming "the pseudo zone" is the reason why modern big men don't dominate like before, no they REALLY SUCK!!! It's really pathetic watching guys like DeAndre and Howard have all the athleticism in the world and have NO IDEA how to use it to devastating advantage at the offensive end! Besides Duncan dominated after the rule changes!
Watch the trait that Tim Duncan in this video shows that everybody in the old school of fundamentals before athleticism seemed to have and that is sticking to what makes him great (low post play) and doesn't deviate from that unless the defense finds a way to stop it.
In the modern game thanks to the proliferation of the 3 pointers I see a lot of players bailing the defense out by deviating from their strengths and taking ill-advised long two's and three's and it's really making the game harder than it really is, it has nothing to do with "modern defensive schemes"
There isn't ANY DEFENSE that would stop a prime Duncan from getting 25 ppg with 12 rbs on devastating efficiency and that speaks volumes in the effectiveness of post play and the positive effect it has on creating space and maximizing opportunities for other players while also putting enormous pressure on the defense.
The league I'd heading into dangerous territory and after Duncan retires it will be even more painfully evident

The Suns were considered the favorites, and even won 3 of 4 regular season games against the Spurs. In fact, the Suns won those 3 games with a combined point differential of 52. In the only Spurs win against the Suns, Duncan had to go berserk (again), for 26/21.
Upset.
