He's mentally ill. All the money in the world can't undo the stuff Delonte has to deal with. It's not as uncommon as people think. It's just that, when Delonte has a reality break, people recognize him and it ends up being a news story.

I really feel sorry for him. His earning years are now behind him, but he is still very recognizable and he's dealing with severe bipolar disorder.
