Say you got to pick any two players in NBA history to start with as rookies. Which duo would be best to build around for maximizing titles? Let's say you would only be able to surround them with role players and decent starters, so no other stars.

And it's the current NBA style and rules.

Magic/Kareem?
Michael/Hakeem?
Kobe/Duncan?
Curry/Shaq?
Bran/Wilt?

You don't think Shaq would get salty at some point and leave?

Then Jordan + Hakeem

Pretty much Jordan + any top 10 post player

I was about to say Russell and Jordan until I read the last sentence.

Jordan/Hakeem
Jordan/Garnett
Jordan/Duncan

If we exclude Jordan, it would be:

Lebron/Shaq

Lebron/Duncan

Lebron/Hakeem

Bird/Duncan

Jordan/Hakeem

This would probably be the most deadly combo. Insane defense, unstoppable offense.

prime shaq alone can bring you 3 rings so

Shaq + anyone

Durant/Hakeem
Kobe/KG
Duncan/Robinson
Duncan/KG

Can swap Jordan for Durant and Kobe in the first two instances, didn't want to include him as he's a given. How would Shaq play under less physical rules?

this wont work out.
cos u know lebron will always manage to get a 3rd star to collude.

I'd go Jordan and Hakeem too. The two best two way players I've seen.

Though the more I think about it, the more I don't know what anyone can do against Magic and Shaq.

Lebron > Magic

Hakeem will negate Shaq

Bird and Duncan for me.

Best not to pick drama queens who might jump to another team if things aren't going their way.

Well you could hack him, which is why i wouldn't pick him (as well as him being a giant baby and pain in the ass).

Jordan/Garnett.

Think about how perfect Michael/Scottie were as a duo.

Now imagine if Pippen was more dominant and 7 feet tall.

The INTENSITY on both ends would be amazing.

As rookies. Not guys in their prime but rookies. Today's rules, today's NBA league as it stands.

Chamberlain & Curry.

16 Curry
03 Fisher
96 Horry
09 Diaw
67 Wilt

Phil Jackson

Diaw and his complementary style of play make sense in that lineup, but I'd want more size and defense at the 2, and by size I mean height, not a husky and slow DFish lol.

Throw a prime Raja Bell in the mix for 3&D purposes and that looks like a good squad to me.

MJ / Hakeem also. Surprised to see a lot of others have said the same. GOAT level two way players on the wing and paint. You won't need much to win with these two.

Who would win between those two and Bird/Wilt if they had similar supporting casts and the right coaches?

Jordan/Duncan
Shaq/Duncan

I think Duncan's probably your best bet as a 2nd option. Low key, no off the court bullshit, no ego's. Definition of a team first player and not out there trying to grab awards. Almost left S.A for Orlando and he's been more than blessed in S.A but on this hypothetical team he'd be pretty blessed with Jordan or Shaq as well.

I picked MJ/Hakeem so them. I always want one of my 2 best players to be a great, athletic wing. Wilt/Bird will be more of a half court based team while MJ/Hakeem will have the ability to run when needed but also grind it out in the half court. But it's what these two can do on the D end that's enticing. Talk about covering ground both vertically and horizontally both in the paint and on the perimeter. These guys would shrink the court and suffocate teams.

MJ/Hakeem. Duncan would also work with any all-time duo.

Rookies in today's league?

Jordan and Dream tbh

I mean just imagine how much shit MJ would be talking with Dream by his side. He'd probably just mind**** everyone to the point where the opposing team would just cry in defeat.
