Given how he relies 100% on his athleticism, and is one of the dumbest players in the league. He will be coming off the bench for the Bejing Ducks in near future

I was thinking the same thing but then I realized this guy will be able to play like he is for the next 6 to 7 years.....so is that really a bad thing???? we talk as if he is 30 or past 30 right now.

I agree, but he's such a freak of nature that I don't think his athleticism will go away until he's 35.:lol

He's been unfortunate with injuries the past few years. If his injuries do continue to pile up or even more serious ones, he'll fall off much faster.

He needs to figure out how to become more of a PG when he starts to slow down. Think his current version but while play making and rebounding more. Easier said than done.

You guys underrate how important NBA IQ is. If it weren't for Rose, Westbrook would be a runaway for dumbest PG in the league.

I disagree bro. Westbrook is an elite athlete meaning that even if he does decline in that regard he will still be a great athlete. He has skills and size for his position as well so I think he will be around for a while.

There are pros and cons to living in NYC. Pro: Arguable GOAT city all-time. Con: new york knicks. :lol I'm a raps fan since day 1 bro. I've seen gutter teams in the expansion era so I know what it is. Melo is massively overrated IMO but porzingis is legit. Having a good team is only a matter of time.

I agree with this. He's such a great athlete that even when he's 80% of it, he's still going to be able to get to the basket. He's had serious injuries and he bounces back like Adrian peterson.

Agree with op. With a measured 36" poverty vertical in his athletic prime I can't imagine what it will be when he is old.

Cutting edge medicine. Manning came back from a broken neck at age 37 and broke records.

Westbrook has a good mid range game and nice fallaway jumper, which makes it all the more infuriating that he can't get his head right, meaning learn to play in a half court system.

So you base everything on a player's athleticism on his vertical jump and that's it?

theaussieguy

So you base everything on a player's athleticism on his vertical jump and that's it?

If you are a player that relies exclusively on athleticism then yes, as soon as you lose a few inches of that vert you are suddenly a below the rim player. MJ for example aged so well because he had both HEIGHT and a 40 plus inch vertical so he retained his general ability well into his thirties. Westbrook fools people into thinking he is a big time dunker by just barely scraping in dunks with his long arms and he tries his hardest to bang his hand on the rim so casual fans think hes doing something insane. WOW NOISE, HE MUST BE A BIG TIME DUNKER!!!

Oh i agree with that. Wade was more skilled than Westbrook and we see what happened when his athleticism and quickness faded.

Quality > Quantity imo.

Rather him go all out every game for 10 years than try and increase his longevity to 15 agonizing years.

Wade is still a star though, per 36 he's 22/5/5. He bounced back from his injuries better than I expected him to.

I love Westbrick, but the is a terrible shooter. He's shooting 37% on jumpshots this season. 29.6% from deep. 34.4% last season and 30% from 3.

I think everyone should just appreciate Westbrook for what he is: A top five player going on at least 3 years now. I think his peak has already equaled people like Barkley, Kobe and others around that level, but people are always complaining about what he should do, or what he can't do instead of looking at the fact that he led the league in scoring last year, and is damn near going to lead the league in assists this year! His PER has been incredible the last two years, and he's scoring more efficiently than ever.

He makes more of an impact on the thunder's game's than durant's, but I never really hear his name in the top 3 for MVP voting. I hope if he gets a championship because this guy should easily be seen as a top 30 player ever if he continues this for another 3-4 years.

He's averaging 10 assits per game and 8 rebounds a game, has a good jumpshot and pretty good bball IQ aside from a few stupid plays every game.
With declined athleticism he's a 20-10-5 player which is still superstar level.

Without a jumpshot, diminished athleticism, and not a very high IQ, you think his PPG would only drop by like 5? :oldlol:

Overrated regular season stat padder.

He peaked last season and still failed to make the playoffs, yeah I know it wasn't completely his fault but he had a chance to pull them there and came up short, while averaging a triple double.

Would you call those empty stats?

If you can't shoot you can't succeed in the NBA, you might put up enormous numbers but in the end it won't pay off (I.E. LeBron)
