"MUH, 1.6 GORILLION"

Tbh it often sounds like a sinister threat when people say it: "you just offended 1.6 billion people, so you better watch out!"

Strange that they don't take the same approach with Christians which there are even more of.

it's generally followed by "if they were all so bad, you would be dead already" :lol

By this logic, criticism of Jews is far more appropriate and even encouraged. :lol

From that angle, it indeed sounds very much like bullying of mob mentality. That's oppression.

However, from the angle of a Muslim here are a few premises
- Allah creates and is in control of EVERYTHING including the very vibrations you detect that go into your auxiliary canal and the very process of sight.
- Your life plays out like a movie geared for character development, in which one must be alert to the Signs around them with the ultimate objective to come nearer to Him.
- Your sense of self, instead of associating it with your body or mind, should be simply be awareness. Therefore, Dresta is the awareness of the being that is you, nothing less, nothing more. Through this awareness you are to try to realize and understand God's hand, mercy, grace, and provisions in order to acquire a deeper love of Him. For example, the kindness shown by your grandparents are but a miniscule fraction of .0000001 .00001% of Allah's kindness. The mercy you see in a mother nursing her child, the same with Allah.

You will get to experience the full presence of God after the Day of Judgment.
- Every sin you see in the world around you reflects something evil/flawed dormant within yourself; therefore, repenting and penance is the way to go about this.
-

Every thought and action is recorded in a Book of Account by the angels on the left and the right that will be measured on the Day of Judgment (and the Resurrection)
- The consequences of slander, gossiping, speaking falsehoods, leading people away from God result in a helluva lot of torment in the Afterlife, and likely plants very suspicious seeds in this world.
- Criticism is usually done in private with gentle admonition and it is actually not very necessary because every human being is obligated.. yes obligated to reflect upon the actions and intentions they did after praying. (Tafakkur)
- People's sense of honor, dignity, and reputation is of utmost importance therefore it's advised not only to refrain from speaking of one's shortcomings in the past but also not to speak of any nightmares !

It generally is in a majority of places all over the world. Antisemitism is rampant in the Middle East, Africa and is rising every year in Europe.

In "liberal progressive" social justice circles, it is considered fashionable and cool to wish for the destruction of Israel and to support Palestinian terrorist organizations dedicated to the eradication of Jews in Israel.

On university campuses, the appointment of a Jewish students to the Student Courts was questioned because of their religion-Judaism. (http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/anti-semitism-appointment-jewish-woman-ucla-student-court-questioned-because-her-faith)

Does your mosque allow teachers to kick and hit students, and do the preachers teach lessons like this?

They don't scare me.

So example, on this thread alone..

Rather than call Chewing a moron, the best approach would be to
a) realize that my flawed mind is JUST AS GUILTY as he is in perceiving others as foolish without having sufficient evidence and likely prone to folly
and
b) Received the "message" from Trollsmasher of how corrupt it is to say "don't hurt my feewings I got peeps to back me up" -----> Therefore, warn other Muslims that the criticism they receive could VERY MUCH be true as Allah has power over all things including what one hears.
c) Received Dresta's message, so rectify any dormant malice or sinister inclinations in one's heart, by reciting the Surah Lahab.

and on Chewing's behalf
a) Take a long hard look at who one calls who a fool.
b) Being a Christian means you identify yourself as the Living Soul in the vessel that is the body meaning physical death can't kill one's spirit. So what's the point in being scared of something that can't really hurt man.? Only God (and man's self-destructive tendencies) has legitimate power to hurt man.
c) Received the "message" from reading J$ post to Dresta that "me" is actually awareness and would therefore adjust concept of "me" and "I"
to identify with awareness.
d) Fear God's wrath lest one find themselves stuck in a rut where they mistakenly project their own character upon others.

still does not change the way most people feel.........some people being scared of muslims, is only natural, who would not be afraid of a inbred rabid animal with low iq.....you never know what idiotic thing they will do.
yes, they try to silence their opponents with threats, just like you just did with "whatever you don't have the balls to say to someone in person"

Well that's the point. I am a peaceful law abiding person and don't believe in violence, yet would you say any of the stuff you go around repeating on this forum to me in person? Absolutely not.

It's the misinterpretation and fanaticism that is the problem.

I think every religion faces the same thing. Although may not be to the same degree.

Subtext aside, there is some truth to thinking about this in terms of numbers.

I remember reading a paper some time ago trying to show some kind of regularity by which small minorities (think Jews and Roma in Europe... something under 2% of the population) tend to become political scapegoats, larger but fairly stable ones (think 10 to 20% of the population, like African Americans in the United States) are discriminated against but become more politicized which allows them to extract specific concessions, and large but growing ones end up either dissolving into the community or tearing it apart.

Common sense would predict this too, but there seemed to be solid data backing it up.
