Are you afraid to DIE? Why or why not?

I starting thinking about this the other day after I woke up from a ****ed up dream. Somebody was trying to kill me in my dream and when I woke up I started dreading the idea of not existing anymore.

Not afraid, maybe a bit of how my loved ones are looked after and the impact on them, but for myself no. I don't believe in any after life so why should I be afraid? Everyone dies at some point.

I mean, before you answer that, you should ask yourself are you even alive?

Lots of people face severe depression and or medical issues, it's easy for them to be blindsided by an answer that would be what they don't want to hear.

I'm afraid to die now, because I have a younger sister I want to overlook throughout her life. Take care of my parents in their old age. Otherwise than that, death really doesn't scare me.

ASIDE from that, I am a theist but I just really enjoy living...I mean there is so much here to explore, it's way more than any human could take in just one lifetime. So much to do and see, it really makes me sad that it is impossible for me to do everything I want to do.

Yes. I love life. I love what I have here on earth. It's unsettling that I have to leave it behind. I think about this most nights. The more it's on my mind, the more I feel time moves faster. But I believe in Heaven so it eases me if I ever get too wound up about it

Sometimes I would say no but at this moment in my life im so hyped for alot of things. Those things scare me and are unknown to me but im hyped nonetheless.

I don't want to not exist. It's easy for me or anyone to say I'm not "afraid" from the comfort of the prime of our lives.

However, I saw my grandma as she was dying. And I know that I or anyone else would be fearful in life threatening situations. (IE not from the comforts of our computer chairs/couches). Have someone pointing a gun at you screaming at you. Or be on a plane that is plummeting to the earth at high speed rolling around. Yeah, that's what life threatening situations feel like.

If you aren't afraid of dying, I'd say you're not normal. Fear of dying is a self preservation mechanism programmed into the most basic of all life forms and exists in all life forms even more complex. You'd have to learn how to suppress an awfully critical instinct to not be afraid of death.

On topic: I am not afraid to die after the time I spent in Iraq, but in that fraction of a second before I die I'll be pissed that I made it through a war zone just to die in the real world.

And yeah I am a drastically different person than I was first finding this site.

I don't think I was ever 'against' marriage, I think I was just against me getting married :D . But I got older, met a cool chick, shit happens.

Besides not existing anymore, the other thing that bothers me is what may or may not happen after I die. You know, some people believe in heaven/hell, reincarnation, or some type of afterlife. I don't know what I believe will happen when I die. I think it's easy to not be afraid of dying if you believe you're going to heaven or whatever, but not having a true belief one way or another causes me to be a little uneasy about the whole thing.

No I'm not, its something you can't avoid and if you think about it your dying everyday slowly. As the days pass your life is getting shorter and shorter without you even realizing.
