Bogut on Varejao "He was watching us move the ball like "wow, this is not how we played on my last team."

well i dont interprete varejaos statement as something bad. there few very good "ball movement" teams in the nba. warriors, spurs....hawks?

neither the lakers or mavs were very good ball moving teams

damning indictment of Lebron ball, this pretty much drops james out of top 20 all time

Normally, point guards are the only players that have a high time of possession and low assisted rates (teammates rarely throw PG's assists because PG's operate off-the-dribble).

But Lebron plays point guard from the forward position, so his presence provides a 2nd player with high time of possession and low assisted rate IN ADDITION to the existing point guard.. His abnormally high time of possession and low assisted rate means his teammates have less time with the ball and less opportunity to assist than other teams whose forwards have a NORMAL time of possession and assisted rate for forwards.

This is why the stats show (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11711763&postcount=31) that Lebron lowers his teammates' assists (turns them into play-finishers), which ultimately robs them of the capacity to succeed against the best playoff teams.. They underperform and are blamed for the losses, even though Lebron's style and method of accumulating his own stats (ball-dominant, PG-style from the forward position) robbed them of the capacity to perform well.

It's so unbelievable that the Cavs won Game 7 towards the end playing the brand of basketball that basketball enthusiasts hate. Which is ISOs over and over. Grant it, the Cavs were screening for switches so they would get the match-ups they wanted and that's how they wanted to play, but it still blows my mind that the Warriors lost moving the ball and Curry, Iggy and Green missing big shots at the end MULTIPLE times, but the Cavs won with ISO plays over and over.

I still like Varejao, but he just didn't fit in anymore with the team. The Cavs with Frye on the court were putting up historical 3pt shooting numbers.

Nothing about this year's finals made sense. To be beat GS 3 straight times playing ANY way is almost unfathomable. That team barely lost during the regular season. They hadn't lost 3 straight since Kerr took over.
For the Cavs to do it in 3 straight elimination games that included 2 at Oakland was insane. I've never seen anything like it and it still feels like a dream.
The way everything unfolded could have come right out of a Disney movie.

to win, you need not just "move the ball so well," you gotta put it in the basket too.

what's the use of moving the ball well if you still can't score?

So why did they beat this best playoff team this time around oh great 3ball?

LeBron played even more of a point forward role given his assists and time on the ball, and they won. :oldlol:
They won against the best team ever in fact. :oldlol:

After game 6 where Bogut went out and Andre could hardly move and was clutching his lower back after every whistle, things were just about done. As much as people like to paint the picture of Golden State being a bottomless pit of depth, there wasn't any serviceable big man to soak up minutes at the 5 and to make things worse their best Power Forward is 6'5''. By the time game 7 rolled around it was obvious there wasn't enough size and skill left on Golden State's roster to compete with the Cavaliers for 48 minutes.

Cleveland's 2016 win wasn't some miracle, it was inevitable after the suspension and subsequent injuries the Warrior team experienced.

Doing a dunk in warm ups in no way indicates a player is 100% healthy. The main problem that is caused by an MCL injury is loss of lateral movement and explosiveness.

The MCL is one of four ligaments connecting the femur bone to the tibia at the knee. It helps keep the knee stable as it moves from the outside to the inside.

So the lateral movements are going to put pressure on the ligament.

Athletic trainers refer to what’s called a “valgus” position — that’s when the knee is turned inward toward the center of the body, and the MCL stretches to keep the joint stable.

Most people naturally stand in a slight valgus position, meaning they are putting a little pressure on their MCL without even trying. Playing basketball just adds to that stress, especially during quick lateral movements

“That valgus position occurs pretty often in basketball,” said Meredith Petschauer, an exercise and sports science professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, “because what you have to do in basketball all the time is plant your foot and turn in a different direction.”

This dumb mophead doesn't understand the purpose of ball movement is to find the player with the best opportunity to score, one pass give the ball to Lebron and you immediately accomplish that.
