Aldridge wanted to go to the Spurs, well fine but the problem is they are over the salary cap.
Atlanta promotes coach Bud to be their VP for operations.
ah huh, here's the solution.
Bud's first order of business is????
Help out his old team, accormodate and absorb Splitter's contract that pays him 8.5 mil/year (THIRD HIGHEST PAY AHEAD OF TEAGUE AND KORVER).
OR maybe ATL badly needs a BACKUP center who grabs 5 rebs/game.
Forget the fact that he has Horford and Millsap, who were playing great under him and that they already have the 6-11 270 lb Antic backing them up.
Maybe coach Bud saw something we didn't see and had great vision of Tiago being a great player for his team... First 6 games he played an average of 18 mins/game
scoring 5pts/3rebs per game for this year.
But hey it's all about the result, right? From having a great record last season, they are just now 4 games above .500.
Well Stern can't allow the Lakers to give up Pau and Odom to get CP3 but his succesor is ok with this.

Splitter was brought in to be the first big off the bench for the Hawks. He knows the Spurs system on both offense and defense.

Are former co-workers not allowed to trade with each other if they both are making a necessary move at the time of the trade?

Get over the CP3 trade you loonies. New Orleans is better off with Anthony Davis than whatever they would have gotten if the trade was completed.

$8.5 Million for a backup center who will play 20 mins/game? YOu really can't spend that precious dollares to replace Carrol who gave you awesome defense and 40% from the 3pt area?
YOu loonies? I'm not the one with 8 red dots under my name. :facepalm
and oh yeah, Orleans is so much better right now. LOL.

Splitter wasn't an untradeable contract. If the Hawks didn't want him, the Spurs would have simply found another team.
